I've been told in the past that the cover isn't "significantly different" when it's the same cover but formatted for Snapper or Keep Case.

I, too, would be tempted by the 'Guard #1', 'Swat #1' etc.
But they're all listed under stunts, so I wouldn't put any of them in.

Please go ahead and add the cover scans for that Limited Edition. I can't be certain, but I'm pretty sure the Disc IDs should match the regular packaging.

If you're using the current version of Windows 10, DVDProfiler will definitely be scanning them wrong.

A simple solution and, although it took a while, worked fine. Thanks.

Personally I use AnyDVD so all disc IDs that I contribute will be the "correct" IDs. But I'm not sure how useful they will be, since most users will not be using AnyDVD.

One could argue that the correct discID is the one that does not use a driver built to remove copy preventions, something deemed illegal is some countries. I sure hope that most users are not using any of those decripters. I do not.

That used to be (and SHOULD be) the case, but the problem Windows 10 is exhibiting is currently being reversed, somehow, by AnyDVD.

I have a category, in my local database, that I called 'Alternates' where I keep track of Profiles I don't own, but I want to keep track of.

I don't have 'Purchased' dates on these, because I never purchased them of course.

But I have noticed that lots of random dates have crept into this category, probably remnants of moving the profile from one category to another.

Is there any way to remove the 'Purchased' dates completely from this category? Or is there a way to automate this process and remove dozens at a time?

Thanks,
Neil

Thanks for everyone who voted. I think that's close enough to unanimous.

I encountered this problem when trying to enter them in to my Wish List.

Some of them are made obvious by the inclusion of 'Complete Legacy Collection' in the Title, others are not.

I just want to get it uniform in the database. And there are others yet to be entered which I want to get right.

The following range of Blu-rays have been entered in to the database in two different ways.

They are either being entered in the Title field as "Dracula: Complete Legacy Collection", for example, or "Complete Legacy Collection" is being entered in the Edition field.

Which is correct?

But SlySoft AnyDVD proves that the DVDs are being scanned incorrectly. We DEFINITELY shouldn't be contributing these 'new' ones.

Has anyone found a workaround that will work for everyone?

We know SlySoft AnyDVD seems to fix the issue, but it was never free and is even more expensive now.

Are Microsoft aware that this is a problem?

Agreed. I changed the Title to something like DELETE ME!! and make a note in the contribution that it needs removing. If approved, it disappears from the database.

Okay. That's good. It's just there's been issues with Disc IDs being reported incorrectly under one of the recent updates to Windows 10.

Oh dear. The Disc ID being different could be a different problem. Are you running Windows 10?

I'm also sure this has been covered before. The parent Profile should have ALL the Child Profiles attached to it. They shouldn't be attached to each other.

Just had the very same problem.

Thanks for the workaround.

I believe you'll just have to be patient. This often happens.
Even new additions are taking nearly a week to be approved right now.

Just got a new Windows 10 PC. Several Disc IDs appeared wrong. Checked by running them through the aformentioned AnyDVD and, indeed, it corrects it.

I thought it was exactly the other way around? That the disc ID *without* AnyDVD running is the proper, "real" one, and the Disc ID's read while AnyDVD is running should not be contributed into the database.

I always have AnyDVD disabled when creating and contributing new profiles.

This.

Yes. This is the way it SHOULD be. But when experiencing the problem with Windows 10, running AnyDVD seems to fix it!

Never mind.Turns out the firewall said it was letting DVD Profiler through, but it wasn't.

Sharing was working fine on the old Windows 7 computer.

Is there an obvious reason for this that I am missing?

Sharing on 192.168.0.2 via Port 32847 on both devices and nothing.

A quick Google search suggests that this barcode has been used for multiple DVDs and not just the two currently in our database.

You'll have to create a third entry for this new DVD under the same barcode.

The Edition is 'Two-Disc Ultimate Edition'.

Whether Dragon Dynasty should be included there, I'm not so certain.
Isn't Dragon Dynasty the Media Company?

I recently bought an external Blu-ray writer (Pioneer BDR-XD05TB) to grab Disc IDs for DVD Profiler.
For this reason, it is perfect. However, it now comes to my attention that I CAN'T actually play Blu-rays on it as the monitor and computer I am using it on are slightly old models and are not HDMI compatible.

I feel like I've gone back to the '80s where you'd buy a VHS film and couldn't watch it because the Macrovision interfered with your television and messed up the picture.

Surely, there's a way round this? Otherwise I have to buy a new computer AND a new monitor just to use this external device fully.

The software supplied with the device works fine and so I'm running PowerDVD 12, if that helps.

Thanks in advance,
Neil
