Hello there

I'm using DVD profiler for years, and bought all the softwares (Windows, iPad, Android phone, Windows mobile).

Everything is ok when handling my DVD or BD discs.

But I also want to store the digital movies I've seen. Mostly Netflix and Amazon Prime.
I have to store these as "Manual entries".
With no detailed infromations (no cast, no movie type, no ... nothing).

Is there a way (plugin) to get thiese infos while adding the movie to the DB ? Some kind of IMDB plugin, but working with digital media ?

Thanx

A couple of years back, there used to be a Netflix API. One of my plugins, LoadDVD, used to do an automatic search based on title, release year, rating and other metadata to select a close match, and then put a Netflix icon that could be clicked to play the movie. Alas, Netflix removed that API.

So now, what I and I've read that others do, is simply manually perform the same process. Then you can duplicate the profile using the "Alternate Profile" method - and do not submit it to the online, or use the BulkEdit plugin to create a "custom profile". A custom profile ID begins with "_" and the following characters can be anything, so long as it is a valid Windows file name (all plugins run on DVD Profiler for Windows). BulkEdit keeps the original profile ID by default, preceding it with a "_". These cannot be  submitted to the online, and you get the full profile metadata. Of course, to get updates, you have to redo it, or copy the updated profile into the custom one, after refreshing from the online.
Thanks for your support.

Hi MediaDogg

Thanx for your answer.

I just installed your BulkEdit plugin.
Nice job, and nice tool : this spreadsheet view is an easy way to make mass updates.
... Or add some profile easily.

I'm just wondering ...
The NetFlix or Amazon Prime movies are available in IMDB. Is there no DVDPro plugin to fetch the IMDB Data ?

Have a nice day

Via the Cast/Crew Edit 2 plugin you can pull "cast" and "crew" data from IMDB, then pasting the data directly into profiles from DVD Profiler for PC.  The other data you can enter in manually.  Does not take that long.

My method for creating 'basic' profiles for streaming movies is using an xml-file shrunken down to the bare minimum, because I find it easier to use a text editor.

I enter Title(s), CountryOfOrigin, ProductionYear, RunningTime, Rating etc. pp. from IMDB to it and then import it with BulkEdit. Change the ManualEntry-number afterwards in Profiler, because if you later import the same number again, chaos ensues.
You'll have to click the "Widescreen" box in 'Video Formats' cause somehow this is not imported.
Then I use Cast/Crew Edit 2 for, well, cast and crew.
For covers either use the gallery on IMDB or I google a bit.

PS Give the XML a thorough check once before using it. Ratings and Location-Info should be adjusted to your location. Especially important is <CollectionType>, I have a Collection Category named "Streaming" so switch that to the appropriate collection for your needs.
Easiest would be if you export a fitting profile and look what has to be changed.
