Actually there's no list of either 'Credited As' or 'Incorrect Roles' for Original Characters by or Original Material by; therefore, it isn't disallowed as you state. If it can be justified, it's allowable IMO.

"If it can be justified" My question still stands, does his contribution notes state he is using Original Characters by for the on screen credit Created by.  To use Original Characters by simply because someone feels Original Material by means they are the mastermind behind every episode.

So for series like Smallville your going to say the series Creators "Created by" should have the Original Characters by Credit?  Along with those actually credted for the Original Characters by "Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster".

I'm not familiar with Smallville. I'm not saying his contribution notes are sufficient or insufficient. I'm just refuting your statement that the rules do not allow a "Created by" credit to be recorded in the "Original Characters by" role in DVD Profiler. I believe that such a credit may be recorded as either OMB or OCB. A credit of OMB is certainly supported by what you've quoted from the writer's site.

I would agree that by Invelos standards one could say "Created by" could be "Original Material by".  But, to say it is "Orignal Characters by" simply because there is no credited as for OCB is not justifiable either.

I'm don't understand the huge desire among some of our members to use either OCB or OMB for the on screen credit Created by.  Created by is a series credit that is the same in every episode and really doesn't provide much info when it comes to those who actually credited for the writing a particular episode in the series.

Hopefully Ken will give us a Created by credit to end the some think it is OMB and others think it is OCB.  Just to open up a can of worms I'm surprised no one has asked about "Developed by" credit.

I agree with Tracy on this. In the case of Smallville I don't OCB would be correct, i fact if they are using a Created by Joe Blow plus Shuster & Siegel then I think they are misusing Created by. Created by in most cases would be OCB, but one must also be aware of this type of exception, Joe Blow did not Create the characters. His credit should something similar to other such TV series. For example The Odd Couple gets OCB for Neil Simon, but Garry Marshall and Jerry Belson DEVELOPED it for Televison, they get NOTHING under our current system.

Yet another reason for Open credits.
