I would have gladly paid more for the Sony remote if it wasn't Bluetooth.  It looks like a far ore powerful remote.  But I have exactly one remote to control my devices (except for the Wii of course) and I'm not going to mess with a second one for watching movies on the PS3.  Plus the wife and kids are used to having one remote for everything.

The Nyko remote will do the job for now.  If a better remote comes out in the future, I might upgrade.  But for $14, I really couldn't pass it up.  That's a fantastic price.

Maybe it's time someone comes out w/ a Universal Remote that can control Bluetooth devices. I'm surprised nothing was announced at CES. They could probably make a small fortune.

Like you i'm going to be purple (just went maroon in November    - i blame Joss Whedon...when i discovered Serenity was only available on HD-DVD the decision was made for me) and it's great knowing this remote exists.  I was already hating the thought of having to add a second remote because i've gotten so used to having just the Harmony on the couch.

This solves that problem.

Received my first Blu-Ray disc today (Cars).

Now all i need is a PS3!
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

for the record... Bill Hunt over at the digital bits is a very reliable source... i know that website has been very public of their backing of the blu-ray format, however, news is news... they have said all along the reason they back the format is that it had the best chance of winning, and they wanted there to be no more format war... i believe this news to be very good...

You'd think that with Logitech making Bluetooth computer peripherals, they'd be able to include Bluetooth communications in the Harmony Remote line. Although, they do tend to keep their engineering teams separate (as they did with their Slim Devices acquisition).

Well, with that possibly out of the way soon, I may have to spent quite some money this year (TV, Player, Audio); hope I get permission to do so

I was rooting for HD DVD as well, basically, but in the end just want(ed) this thing to blow over so I can consider getting into hidef myself... (despite the costs involved).

There is only very few recent DVD purchases that I would think would warrant a double-dip to hidef, the most obvious one being Blade Runner. The rest I will probably be happy with upscaling.

Somehow, I managed to show restraint on Blade Runner, didn't buy the DVD. I haven't bought many movies lately though on DVD, just Ratatouille (because my wife wouldn't wait till we went blue) and Transformers (because it was being released on HD DVD and I had no plans to go red).
