Blu-ray sale:  Wow, those titles disappear from the list fast.  I checked the list before dinner and when I came back after dinner to take a closer look and make an order at least 3 or so titles were missing (no idea which ones, but the placement of movies had shifted) and Page 9 was definitely smaller.  There will probably be only 8 pages here pretty soon.

Not quite as nice as the BOGO sales they were doing earlier, but still pretty good deals.  Especially the $15 titles.

HD DVD sale: Tempting, but I'm going to hold out.  There has got to be some kind of fire sale soon, most likely at the B&M stores looking to free up space then at Amazon, so I plan on taking advantage of that since I went purple.  I guess I'll need to compile a list of HD DVD exclusive movies so I know which ones to get.  I know they'll eventually come out in Blu-ray but why wait when I can get them now and hopefully on the cheap.

I guess the question is: if you are going to buy a new player a few years from now, will it play HD-DVDs?

That's a valid point, but why would I buy a new player a few years from now?  Besides if my current one breaks of course.  Sure, my current player is stuck at being a profile 1.1 player, but profile 2.0 doesn't offer anything I care about.  I could care less about being able to access the internet while playing a movie to download a screensaver or a ring tone or even a movie trailer or something.  I can't imagine blu-ray continuing to change their specs to the point where a 2 or 3 year old player would suddenly stop working.  Heck, the DVD player I replaced with my HD player was almost 10 years old.

Even though it's not part of the sale, I noticed Full Metal Jacket was about a dollar cheaper than it was earlier this week.  So I picked it up to get the final Kubrick on HD (Eyes Wide Shut, 2001 & The Shining on HD DVD and Clockwork on BD).  I also picked up Memento from the sale to get the free shipping.

You missed one if you want all of Kubrick's works that are on HD.

Spartacus (HD DVD)

Yes, I missed that one.  It's also received mixed to negative reviews for the HD DVD.  So I'm not sure if I even want to add it or not.
