| | Posted: | | | | That's okay, the reviews I've read have all agreed that the extended cut is just that...extended. It's just superfluous fat. Does anybody really believe that Ridley Scott can't release the movie that fulfills his vision?  |

He apparently has enough clout in the business that what you see in the theatres is the Director's Cut. It's his vision of the movie. He genuinely does not like extended cuts of his movies as those scenes were cut for a reason. He had the same reaction to the extended cut for Gladiator. If you have it, it's kind of amusing to watch his intro to the Extended Cut because he's visibly agitated and flat out says "This is not the Director's Cut of the movie, you've already seen it if you saw it in the theatres".
Anyway, I'm still on the fence about whether I'll be picking this one up since it's one of the remaining few HD DVD exclusives. I heard some rumors that a Blu-ray version of this may be coming out in March. There is no Blu-ray version in March, since they aren't releasing Blu-rays...yet. As for Ridley Scott, there are occasions were the later, longer cut is his preferred version. For example, "Kingdom of Heaven." That's why it is called a Director's Cut, whereas "Gladiator," "American Gangster" and "Blackhawk Down" are Extended Cuts. |

| | Posted: | | | | HD DVD has done plenty of films of that length with both TrueHD and extras on the same disc without problem so if there's a fault with the HD transfer, it's not disc related.
