Easy, because I think it's not of my concern. Everyone should mind their own business.

How is that possible? Contributing a profile to the online concerns everybody. It changes the data used in future. Doing your own business is done localy. The moment it is contributed it is everybodys business hence the voting system. Sorry Martin I don't agree on this.
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

IMO, you should only contribute and vote on your own profiles, we do not own the online database and therefore we are not responsible for it.

True enough, martin, but we also have Rules and they apply to ALL. When someone decides that they can stray from the Rules for what THEY want to have, they affect every other user in the world. WE simply do not at this time with ADDITIONAL anything, not just composer. We did not provide for it. And it most certainly our responsibility, in my view, that is one of the reasons I am so solid about the Rules, what id o affects YOU and vice versa and when what you are doing has an impact on me, as it does if you stray from the rules then I tend to get real annoyed real fast.

Put it the other way, if i'm allowed to profile all the LOTR profiles. Why should you not vote on contributions that concern the credits that influence the Credit Lookup Tool?

I have to admit I'm with Martin with this one. I didn't realise you were changing all the LOTR profiles and I wouldn't have approved of it if I had.
In this case, there is very little chance of there being different credits on different DVDs, but we have already seen other situations where exactly that has happened.
The only profiles we should be allowed to change are for DVDs we own or pre-releases. And we should only be allowed to vote on changes we can personally verify.

I think LOTR is not a problem, I doubt that MAJOR productions would be...but maybe. On occassions where I do something of this nature I ALWAYS do due dilligence totry and sort it out and also add to my notes that IF there is any difference in what their credits might show versus what I contribute to PLEASE let me know.

However, in this particular instance re: martin, data is being corrected to remove data which should never have been inserted to begin with, as I said we do not do ADDITIONAL anything, and that is not dependent on language, we simply don't do it.

Who's we? You can not say everybody does because 30 voters on a poll do. I'm sure the community is a little bit bigger than that.

Martin:

Find anywhere iin the Rules OR the job listings that we use that says Additional ANYTHING, you won't find it. Because we don't use it. If yu want it locally I won't tell you no, you know that, but for it to be Online was illegal data PERIOD. Rationalize it anyway you wish, the data has to be removed until such time as Ken says otherwise and the results of theis poll do not support your position either. You were incorrect to put that data in there to begin with, martin, sorry.

Exactly. It does not say we're allowed to use it, but it does not say we're NOT allowed to use it either.

That is a BS rationalization, martin, sorry. Its not listed we don't use it. Don't try and create your own Rules. We don't list ADR Editors and we don't exclude them either, by your arguymenmt they could be incliuded...give me a break.

Here's what I see you doing, Martin. You inserted illegal data into the database and it got caught and is being corrected. Had you not made such a big fuss over it, no foul, but you have been caught and you don't like it and you are spinning like a top totry and rationalize it. Keep it locally, Martin, I can fully appreciate that you consider it important, but locally is where it belongs...at least for now. Perhaps someday it will be different but not now.

The Rules list what is acceptable.

It would be impossible to list everything that should be excluded.

Whatever. You think I'm trying to create my own rules but I'm not, I'm just reading between the lines and thinking outside the box to enhance the database and I personally think this is much better than to remove all sorts of things because of consistency or lack of support.

Don't read between the lines, Martin. That's exactly what I mean by rationalizing. There is NOTHING that says to ADDITIONAL anyything, it's not there, it's not there, end of subject. As I said we dont list ADR Editors as acceptable, but we don't say they are not so reading between the lines they would be OK....NOT. I appreciate that YOU want the data and that YOU consider it important and perhhaps someday we will allow it, but we don't right now. Accept it. We could load up all kinds of data by your reading between the lines and thinking outside the box. Keep that in your local.

I am willing to accept the fact that others who own the same release as I do, don't want the information I think is important, but not from someone who thinks he speaks for all of us.

Agree, but the list in the rules is not exhaustive. Otherwise we could not enter "original screenplay by" or other variations of the listed job names as well as any non-US-English job name.

Nor am I willing to sit back and watch you manipulate the Rules and then spin and twist to rationalize it. You were wrong and you got caught at it. Now the data needs to be removed from the Online PER the Rules, Martin.

I am sorry but that's the wy it is and i am disappointed that you think reading between the lines and thinking outside the box in a blatant attempt to manipulate the online database is a good thing to do. And worse that you don't recognize the damage that could do overall to the database. All that is imporatnt is what YOU want to do.   and you will say anything no matter how irrational it may be to support it.
