I know of very few instances where credit lists are different from one country to another, some but they are rare. So let's say you have just audited and found comma Jr. and you look and see the same title listed with comma-less Jr., there is about a 99% likelihood that those are iincorrect. On tiop of that we also know that the use of comma-less Jr. is, I won't call it rare, but it is unusual, most times they use the comma Jr. listing in Credits. Beyond that I say nothing.

You go by the CLT, but you check under both name variants to see whether certain titles are listed under both. And if that is indeed the case, you should take that into consideration when deciding what the ACTUAL "common name" is. That'll save us all a lot of pointless updates.

As for the contribution this is about - and which I have indeed voted against - the CLT results are evenly split 68 vs. 68 entries: you're just using a slight advantage in number of titles (mostly caused by translated titles in various R2-localities) to back up your claim that the comma-less name variant is really the most "common". And there really are quite a few titles listed under both name variants: you really don't need more than a quick glance to see that this actor is really mostly credited with a comma.

Efrem Zimbalist Jr. is Credited Without a Comma in All four seasons of Batman the Animated Series. 3 Batman Animated Features, 1 season Superman Animated Series and 1 season of the Justice league.
if you were to remove those titles from the Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. with comma it will show different.
As the CLT shows now
Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. - 61/87
Efrem Zimbalist Jr. - 77/86
Removing just the titles I have mentiion above because i have Verified these by Disc.
Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. - 45/71
Efrem Zimbalist Jr. - 93/102
There are 16/16 Different Titles and Profiles of the titles from above under Efrem Zimbalist, Jr.

Well dark, you can add the following coma-less Jr. listings as errors

Airport 1975
Hot Shots
Remington Steele.

They are all credited as comma Jr., and i suspect all of the coma-less Jr. or nearly all of them are wrong as well.

All of the Comma less Credits I have listed above are Credited that way in the Actual end Credits. Hot shots is Credited as with a Comma as seen in the End Credits, but is not listed under the Comma-less name in the CLT. Remington Steele, and Airport 1975 are Both Listed with and without in the CLT. I cant verifiy the Remington and Airport since I dont own them to check the disc.

I can verify that all three are comma Jrs. I have personally audited them.

I see two Hot Shots listed as comma-less
8 Airport 195
5 Remington Steele

I would also be willing to bet that the lone entry for comma-less Bomber B-52 is not correct.

the only way to fix the CLT as i see it:
go by the movie credits on dvd
verify by the CLT the incorrect dvd's
download all those profiles
correct al the cast and crew use the 'DVDProfiler Cast & Crew Editor' tool by Tom Gaines to correct al those profiles
be carefull only to edit the same profiles of that movie (same cut, same edition, ...)
It will take some time but possibly you get there in the end. Form a group and make a project out of it.
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

Hooray, once again the same discussion!
Skip, would you please offer to do as Giga requested, then we could crosslink to another notorious thread.

Not that I don't like the idea, but if I recall the discussion correctly there were some severe arguments against it.
Or in other words: if you want to do so, then do it, but don't make it public because there some people out there who would burn you for the attempt.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

What Would the Correct Common Name of Cast or Crew, with a Suffix. Would there be a Comma before the Suffix or without comm.

Your grammar is very poor here, and you have made a lot of capitalization errors.

"Grammar" is spelled "g-r-a-m-m-a-r".

Also, from your thread topic, the plural of "comma" is "commas," "comma's" is possessive.

I know I sound like an ass, but you are discussing correct grammar and punctuation used for contributing to the database, and your post is rife with grammar, capitalization, spelling, and punctuation errors. I hope your contributions don't contain the same mistakes.

I, for one, was in favor of what Skip intended to do. I know there are concerns and warnings, but I think we should choose the lesser evil.  Especially when the source is an accurate transcription work from the film's credits, like I think of Skip's. Yes, I know there are a few instances where the credits are somewhat different in R1 and R2 releases, but those few differences can be corrected afterwards, and in most cases that kind of contribution would be better than an empty profile or than an inaccurate "IMDb" profile, anyway.
