English is not my native language. So I don't understand all of it. I tried to contribute some DVDs I bought, only one got accepted. Another (Salsa I09377F1353D17CC9) got rejected because I mentioned data from IMDB ? Strange, is IMDB not a reference ? How do I add actors and makers ? Copy it from teh end title ? It's not readable most times, so, how do I do this?
This is why I'm discouraged, I only got "declined" with some cryptic note added, it's not that clear to me. The covers added are genuine, so whats wrong with them? I've had my share of declining, some help maybe ?

Hei,

welcome to the forum, IMDB is not allowed as source because of the copywright issues. All data should come from the dvd. Also we (users) found the data from IMDB often contains erros.
Only allowed data from IMDB could be the roles if no roles are in the endcredits. (eind generiek)
If you have specifique questions in Dutch or French or German, there users arround here willing to help you. a good starter ofcourse is the contribution rules: found here
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

Most of us read the endcredits from the dvd on the computer, and yes sometimes it is hard to read those, I have a magnifying glass, next to my computerscreen.

the spline should not be incuded. no copywright notices should be on the cover and if you replace a dvd cover it should not replace a first release dvd cover, how bad the scan is.

if you post me the cryptic message (PM) I'll try to explain it to you if your dutch speaking

No, it is not. Before contributing you should read the contribution rules.
They clearly state not to "submit content from a third party database"

The rules state not to "submit content from a third party database"

The Rules also state very clearly:
Quote:
If an actor is credited by name but does not have an associated role, you may use another source to identify the role. In each case, list Actor’s names and roles (when given) exactly as they are in the credits and in exactly the same order credited.
so in this case you can use IMDB for the role part.

Also aside from the legal issues involved in copying data from IMDb, which do exist. Since IMDb already exists why would it be necessary to create a new one with the same data, this is not IMDb. But as pointed out read and then follow the Rules. If you gave questions bring them here.

Basically what you did was jump straight into the deep end of the swimming pool before learning how to swim and you drowned, as expected.

Personally, I also try to use another source if possible. Most of the time unnamed roles tend to happen with TV series, so I use TV.com as well (if the official site doesn't have the info).
