Thanks for that Ken!
But don't you have a 3.5 to be getting ready?

I do indeed, but Gerri warned me the natives were getting restless.  Both sides of this issue are correct in that either way requires an interpretation of the rules.  Rules will never cover all potential possibilities, so sometimes interpretation must be applied.  In the absence of a supreme court, I'll have to serve.  Just don't ask my opinion on abortion, please.

Thanks Ken! always glad to see your input.

So to make sure I have it straight there will be times (Most the time) when we can just put Actor (In Name Field) Himself (Role)... (In straight credits)

but there will indeed be times when we will be putting Himself [Actor Name] (In Name Field) Actor Name (in Role Field) (IF Credits actually say something like Himself as or Himself played by).

I just woke up... so if I read it wrong tell me!

thanks again.

My thought on this is that if the cast listing is explicit, as in "Himself as Bob Smith", or "Bob Smith played by Himself", then the Credited As field should be used to preserve intent.  However, if the only indication of Name/Role is left/right, I would lean towards allowing the credit to be entered as name: "Bob Smith", role: "Himself"

Now we get to watch Martin try and twist the database some more.

@ Pete

That is how I read his post.

@ Ken

Thanks for the clarification.

@ Gerri

Thanks for warning Ken about us natives.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

We will teach it to them again.

Even though Martin edited his posts, I agree with him.  To me, 'J.D. Drew' and 'J. D. Drew' should be parsed the same.

I look at it the same way I do any other 3 part name.  Unless documented otherwise, 1/2/3.

Wow, I have been out of town for a funeral and just got home... I thought I would check on people's thoughts never dreaming this got so involved...

Thanks for the clarification and to everyone else, next time I will not assume something is as obvious as it at first seems -- I knew how it should read but also knew everyone else may have an opinion about this as well.
