Norwegian site says it to be launched this spring in Germany, Belgium, Great Brittain and France.
The price isn't either set yet.

| | Posted: | | | | The downside of a 21:9 panel obviously is that it will involve scaling of 2.4:1 source material (whether DVD or Blu-Ray), the upside that it can be zoomed to fill the screen and thus enhance the "theatre experience". |

| | Posted: | | | | My guess is this new aspect ratio will cause havoc on careful subtitle placement, optimised for 16:9 TV's. Does anybody know whether HDMI will provide the feedback from TV to player to readjust, if possible, the generated image?
Any player not transmitting via HDMI will likely present problems with this ratio.
It'll be interesting to see what solutions Philips provides. After all, retailers will have to sell these screens... In the past they have often made disappointing products, so I am cautious. | | | Eric

Also, by varying the height rather than the width you can avoid digital stretching of the image which you get with the 2.35:1 anamorphic systems.
