I like the idea, if I'll find a little bit time I'll try this at the weekend.

Muckl, this is great.    Just tested it.
But two questions:
Where can I find the standard for the loudness to change?

I always have to have the html window open to make it work. If it's tabbed and the other tab is active, the music doesn't change/stop at changing the actual DVD. (Also doesn't start)

Muckl, I didn't give up.... I tried again and again , put // to obtaiin only one string to make things easier and ....  it worked, that's brilliant.
Nevertheless, for some dvds the player doesn't want to appear but I can hear the music but it stops very quickly. Sometimes, and this is more annoying I can't stop the soundtrack at all ! and I must shut down DVD Profiler.
Thanks for your help

Glad to hear it

Which Windows, Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer and DVDP versions are you using?

You have to change the value of initialVolume within the "Player settings" section. Just search for initialVolume and replace 10 with a value between 0 [mute] and 100 [deafening  ].

Unfortunately there's no way to change that behaviour. DVDP only (re)loads a HTML window when it's active. And AFAIK there's no way to access other HTML windows from the Notes section (that's being loaded automatically).

So, for now there are two options (as I see it):

[1] adding the media file in the Notes section (like cvermeylen posted)
      + easy to set up
+ automatically starts when profile is loaded
      -  restarts when another tab is selected
      -  path and filename has to be saved for every single profile

[2] adding a HTML window (like my WMP Embed)
+ instead of editing every single profile it's possible to define a standard path where all media/playlist files are stored
+ playback doesn't stop until you select a "WMP Embed" window of another (or the same) profile
+ adjustable player settings (like default volume) to fit your needs
      -  you have to select the "WMP Embed" window to start playback for current profile
      -  ... [post any other disadvantage you can find  ]

I don't know how to make a playlist but I 've changed the red-coloured string with C:\\Users\\sony\\Documents\\DVD-Profiler\\Soundtracks    where I put only one song (.mp3) renamed with the same number as the one of the gallery. Am I clear?
and I've got an error message

Files not found or empty:

"C:\Users\sony\Documents\DVD-Profiler\Soundtracks\5037115282132.m3u"
"C:\Users\sony\Documents\DVD-Profiler\Soundtracks\5037115282132.4.m3u"
"C:\Users\sony\Documents\DVD-Profiler\Soundtracks\5037115282132.mp3"
"C:\Users\sony\Documents\DVD-Profiler\Soundtracks\5037115282132.4.mp3"
"C:\Users\sony\Documents\DVD-Profiler\Soundtracks\Lost_in_Austen.avi"
"C:\Users\sony\Documents\DVD-Profiler\Soundtracks\Lost in Austen.wmv"
"C:\Users\sony\Documents\DVD-Profiler\Soundtracks\Lost in Austen\playlist.m3u"
"C:\Users\sony\Documents\DVD-Profiler\Soundtracks\L\Lost in Austen\playlist.m3u"

Thanks for your time

Does any of these paths match exactly the mp3 file?

Which string is the one that finally worked?

I guess you're using Windows 7 or Vista. At the moment I only have the possibilty to test my script with Windows XP. It seems there are some incompatibilities with Win7/Vista. Please tell me your Windows, Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer and DVDP versions.

I'm so sorry that my script doesn't work as expected. I hope you're not angry with me and willing to do some trial and error

Any chance this would work with a Spotify link?

I don't know this service, so I just had a quick glance. But as I understand it (and as it's described in Wikipedia: a proprietary peer-to-peer music streaming service), you can only play the stream with the Spotify client. And there's no API available.

So, unfortunately chances are about zero at this time...

Well, I have the client running almost all the time in the background.

I guess one could just paste the URL link but how does Profiler know which program to send it to?

An URL might looks like this, (in this example Stand by Me with Ben E. King)

http://open.spotify.com/track/5HPWNRdTPZvloAkpqmMOKK

They also have something called an URI:

spotify:track:5HPWNRdTPZvloAkpqmMOKK

It has been a long time since I last posted, but I'm still looking for a working solution.
I work with Vista and I can't get through all the soundtracks I've added, most of them stop after a couple of secondes and the Window Media Player display doesn't appear either.
Could you help me?
Thanks

If you are willing to use a plugin, and if saving time is worth a few bucks, I suggest LoadDVD Pro. There is a built-in Media Player, that is much like a hosted HTML window, except that it continues to play when a new DVD is selected. Included is a PlayList Manger that will help you create and play any of three popular forms of playlists. You can include: urls, .mp3, .avi, .mpg, .jpg, .ISO, YouTube, Hulu, Vevo all in the same playlist. For WMP native formats and YouTube, the playlist will automatically cycle. There is no autostart for Hulu or continuation after .ISOs, so unfortunately when you hit one of those, you have to manually continue.

As a bonus, you get a Netflix player that will automatically grab  the trailer or movie for the selected DVD. You just need to manually login once in your browser, or inside the embedded player/browser to set the cookies. Be sure to set "Media Player Only" mode in the Tools>View Plugins>LoadDVD Pro>Options panel to supress the other features of LoadDVD unless you also want those. Here is a User Guide.

And you might enjoy this Netflix Viewer demo.

Another little goodie is the automatic slideshows. One of them will search, for the selected DVD, for any folder starting with First_Last of the Cast / Crew and use any pictures or shortcuts to pictures. That means you can create an alias by just including shortcuts inside an alias folder. For example, I have my pictures of Zhang_Zhi in that folder. Then I have folders named Zhang_Ziyi, Zhi_Zhang and Ziyi_Zhang that only have shortcuts to the pictures. So on any DVD where either of those spellings is used, those pictures are automatically included in the slideshow. All of the folders are in CreditPhotos, and thereby get automatically backed and restored by DVDP.
Thanks for your support.

mediadogg's plugin looks great and I'm sure it's worth every dime! And it seems to work...

What I can do for you (as a first debugging attempt) is give you a slightly modified version of my HTML window. I believe the issue is connected to the kludge I implemented to determine, if the current media file or playlist exists.

One advantage of my code is that you can define a couple of different file names (i.e. patterns) the window will look for. If there's only one file name given, the kludge won't be necessary and maybe it'll work on your system, too. That's how the modifed version works.

Let me know, if that sounds acceptable to you.

P.S.:

Is that still the case? And what Internet Explorer version is installed on your system? 7.0 or 8.0?

Thanks man - I worked hard on it, as I'm sure you did on that amazing HTML section. Having various options is good for users. "Different strokes for different folks," as they say.
