From what I see there is no William Wisher, Sr.

No IMDb listing for him. IMDb search for William Wisher (withought Jr or Sr) brings you to the William Wisher, Jr page.

No entries in our database

Even a google search for William Wisher brings up a "did you mean William Wisher, Jr"

I'm not sure what the problem is here. It took all o about 2 minutes to find numerous sources that say William Wisher, Jr is the uncredited entry, and for it to link properly the common name of William Wisher should be used.

Kluge :

You've done it WRONG. Most COMMONLY credited name form would be William Wisher, Jr. ===>Willilliam Wisher, Jr. (William Wisher)

Skip

I'm sorry but this doesn't make any sense, I must be misreading it    How can you use the credited as feature for someone who isn't credited!?!

EDIT: You guys type too fast for me. Page one was only half way whe I started typing!

Then he will be breaking the link to other William Wisher, Jr. entries which ARE credited.

No. There is only ONE "William Wisher, Jr." credit, in 'Terminator', and like this one, that credit should also use his common name. So that 'Terminator' credit reads "William Wisher [William Wisher, Jr.], and this 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day' credit reads "William Wisher", along with his other credits in 'The Abyss', 'The 13th Warrior' and so on. And so everything properly links together.

The problem for you, Skip, is, that you probably haven't applied the correct common name in your 'Terminator' profile yet. I'm guessing that yours still lists "William Wisher, Jr." as credited, without the much-needed common name. Rather than trying to get this correct update declined, you need to fix your own 'Terminator' profile to incorporate the "William Wisher" common name. With both changes, not only will his entries in 'Terminator' and 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day' then link together for you, but they'll also link together with his other credits in 'The Abyss', 'The 13th Warrior' and so on.

Well let's see, Rick. Since you don't get it by your own admission.

William Wisher, Jr. IS credited in The Terminator, so changing William Wisher, Jr. (uncredited) to William Wisher (uncredited)  in T2 breaks the link to the credited William Wisher, Jr.

We have a format for Common Name usage and simply changing the credit is NOT correct.

Then go ahead and make the change right now! The community will be grateful. Surely you understand that Kluge doesn't necessarily has the same version of 'Terminator' as you do? His version does correctly have it as "William Wisher, Jr. [William Wisher]". Your copy should list that as well, but apparently no-one has gotten around to fixing it. That's no reason to vote against a correct contribution, though. Kluge's change is 100% correct.

It does. But leaving it as "William Wisher, Jr." breaks the link with his credits in 'The Abyss', 'The 13th Warrior' and so on.

This is why it's called a common name - we're after the most-credited form. Well, the most-credited form of Mr. Wisher's name is not "William Wisher, Jr.", but simply "William Wisher". So that's the variant we use. We use it for the times when he's credited as such, we use it for the times he appears (uncredited), and we also add it, as a common name, to the one time he's credited as "William Wisher, Jr.".

It's not in the correct form as of now, Tim. It does not say William Wisher (William Wisher, Jr.), so it breaks the contact with the CREDITED form of the name. As for me making the change, NO, users like yourself have stopped me from making Contributions, thank you very much. That is not an attack, tim and you certainly are not the only user that has made me stop Contributing but you are one of them. So YOU make the change and to Kluge make your Contribution CCORRECTLY and I will be happy to vote yes.

After all, Tim, you believe that you can make global changes to every profile in the dattabase, even though you don't own but one or two.

No need. Your misguided concerns will be ignored by the screeners and Kluge's contribution will be accepted. Simply because it's absolutely correct.

Ok, then the Common Name system means nothing. A user is free to break a link. Thanks for the verification, oh great one.

You're very welcome.

For the record, though: Kluge is actually establishing a link. Maybe not with your 'Terminator' profile, but that would only be because your 'Terminator' profile is incorrect (i.e. missing the "William Wisher" common name).

It is exactly this kind of hodge podge method without any sort of documentation which prevents the CLT system from working properly.

Of course in my copy The Terminator: Special Edition (8-712626-007241), i've corrected and submitted the credit William Wisher [William Wisher, Jr.] as per film credits.
Note that these changes will not affect the CLT results, uncredited people are not calculated by CLT.
And the "links" are only in personal data base.

WRONG, Tim. I said there is no record on either copy of Terminator (I have TWO of them) in my database that indicates anyone has created a William Wisher (William Wisher, Jr. ) link EVER. Thus the link to William Wisher, Jr. is broken.

As luck would have it, this contribution is about an (uncredited) entry, and those don't show up in the CLT at all. So it has no effect whatsoever.

You really do need to try to get a grip on the whole "credited as" system. The fact that you suggested to use "William Wisher, Jr. [William Wisher] (uncredited)" is worrying, to say the least, because it's both impossible (can't use "credited as" for uncredited) and incorrect (declaring the least-used name variant as the common name).

Skip, you've publicly stated numerous times that you no longer contribute to updates/additons here.  WHY do you continue to harrass everyone here to get it PERFECT to the way you want it.  Just fix it in your database, and leave everyone here alone.  It gets old real quick when you continue to point out the fact that you think everyone here is wrong, and you are right, but you continue to hold back your data, while taking what others have contibruted, and giving nothing but grieve in return.

Why does this have to continue?

Then we don't worry about linking since it's just an (ujncredited) entry. ROFL. Then I guess we can just do whatever we want with (uncredited) since they aren't part of the CLT to begin with....don't make me laugh.
