When you combine this statement with his statement in this thread, you will see that Rick wasn't talking about emoticons. The Mod closing the other thread, and stated that they would see if the could get the 'beating a dead horse' emoticon added, sent Rick an unintended and unfortunate message.

While I usually don't like to assume subtext, I think I am safe in saying there is plenty here.
