I like the suggestion. The goal however is not to ban but rather to have everyone operate within accepted guidelines. With light punishment or warnings, the lack of consequence doesn't affect behavior. If someone knew that posting an insult would bump them out of the forum for a week, I bet they'd be reluctant to post it.

The lose you avatar I will throw a red everytime i see it at anyone. It is offensive beyond belief. And by the way james, as long as you want to use it, expect no mercy from ME. NONE.

Not sure what the big deal about the avatar is, I find them quite amusing.  If it was a pic of a user and not an icon I'd side with you 100% but seeing Walt as a commie is pretty funny.

If someone goes off topic, then the moderator should instruct them to either keep the discussion on topic or not post at all.

That only works if the moderators are on top of every situation and treating people fairly.  I don't pay attention to the moderators.  But I've heard horror stories of their judgments not always being fair, equal or present at all.

Then maybe another poll should be started suggesting that moderators be elected by the forum community. I myself, would love to have Kathy or Unicus as a moderator. They have proven to be fair and honest in their assessments and postings.

I agree that mods from the forum community is a good idea, even if they log in to do the work under the mod badge (meaning their identity could be kept secret). It's a good idea.

There's a ton of level headed people on these boards. I would think Martian would be a very good mod, too.

I have to go with this system... It just time that something happen and in a serious way. The actual system make no sense at all and doesn't help anything.

BTW don't count my vote as being against someone in particular.

Ken had already judged it isn't, so for me and the majority here it isn't. unless you are the real Walt Disney? In this case it would be understandable. So please stop being off-topic...

I don't find the avatars offensive but I can see why others might.

I am more concerned with what is said in the forums and how invelos and the community can be improved.

First, I would like to be clear that my comments are not being addressed to any one in particular. No one is perfect and I will not call any person(s) out.

I would like to see this issue discussed in a professional manner. It is obvious to me based on the poll results as well as the loss of valuable community members that something needs to be done.

I think the proposal that Antares has presented is a good place to start. Any proposal can be adjusted and modified in order to reach a consensus.

I do not have experience in moderation or forum discipline so I will not be much help I'm afraid. I can only give my thoughts on what I would like to see and what seems fair looking at it from a lay person's point of view.

Although long term banning is acceptable after numerous infractions, I do have a problem with any one being permanently banned. But, I can understand if others don't feel the same.

Where's the "Not Severe Enough" option?

Pretty much any forum I've ever been a member of have dealt with banning in a relatively casual manner, with no posted rules or guidelines, and with admins (not mods) handing out bans at their own discretion, so it's hard to determine exactly if they are more or less lenient than the guidelines you've posted. But, judging by what I've seen bans are handed out far more often than they would have had they followed your system.

Granted, I know Ken likes to hang out in the extreme lenience spectrum and since we're all his customers I can't fault him too much for being very reluctant to ban members... so keeping that in mind I think you have a pretty good setup.

Then those same users have no right to complain about someone else. What we have is simply thought police and speech police who want o control only some a while they are allowed to speak and offend at will. Therin lies the problem users such as Alien and north and many others find their own behavior to be perfectly acceptable while other users find it DISGUSTING. So they don't like some users and want them banned, while other user who are offended by their behavior are simply slammed and act like a bunch of children, they accuse one user of being a bully, while not recognizing that their own behavior is bullying in it's own right. Where has ken ever said that inmates run the asylum, not in my memory, but we clearly have some nuts that have fallen from the tree and believe that ken is answerable to them. If the behavior by so many here weren;'t so pathetic it would be hilarious...maybe it is anyway

I also find the agenda to be utterly despicable.

The only agenda is to get some order and respect for fellow members around here.

The best way to achieve that is to cut out the tumor that is those who get posts repeatedly moderated.

By reading the comments comments here, and seeing the change in avatars by some users, it is kind of hard to think that this is not targeted at one user.

While some may very well think that the avatars are funny, the references made toward skip in the  forums, and the abrupt change to depicting Disney in front of a USSR flag, I think says all that needs to be said.

It is the way this appears to me.

And if you notice, he was not the first one to get moderated in this topic.

Sorry, that is the way I see it.

I can agree with the order part, but the respect part is beyond Invelos's capabilities.

Point taken. Maybe "perceived respect" or "respectful behaviour" would've been a better choice of words.

The next question, that I must ask.

Since Ken has set up the New User forum, for the free users, aren't all the users here now paid subscribers?

Doesn't that make this part of the fee paid for the program?

While Ken does hold the license, and grants us permission to use the program, the online DB and the Forums, for the fee of $30us (A heck of a deal), wouldn't a permanent ban be restricting the license use of that user?

Just asking...
