Yup, it's time for another common name thread!  Can anyone help me out with the rest of these?  I know based on my Gabby Hayes thread that not a lot of you guys have these old westerns, but a girl can hope, right?

Robert North Bradbury was a director of B-movie Westerns in the 20's and 30's.  He did a lot of early pictures with John Wayne, Tex Ritter and such.  The CLT is overwhelmingly for Robert N. Bradbury, but all the incorrect entries I've found have been for that variant.

I've tried to sift out the movie titles from the CLT (Robert N. has 81 titles in the CLT, but only 28 of them seem unique).  He's credited for a lot of John Wayne collections, but many of those don't list the movies he's credited for.

Robert N. Bradbury - 28 titles, 3 verified (12 eliminated)
- Between Men
- Call of the Wilderness
- The Gallant Fool
- God's Country and the Man

A bit of Youtube research turns up the following credits (a lot of 30's B westerns are public domain, and available freely):

Robert N. Bradbury
Alias John Law
Calvary
Courageous Avenger
Danger Valley
Galloping Romeo
The Gun Ranger
Last of the Warrens
The Law Rides

R. N. Bradbury
Brand of Outlaws
Riders of the Rockies
Sing, Cowboy, Sing

This would indicate, at least to me, that Robert N. Bradbury is what he was most often credited as, since it would push Robert N. to 18 titles vs. R. N. at 13 titles.  However, I don't know that this sort of research would be rules compliant for determining common name, since I don't think any of these films are in the database.

No they're not. What brought you to that conclusion?

The Gallant Fool

God's Country and the Man

Headin' for the Rio Grande

Where Trails Divide

They're not pre-release, they're officially released, up for sale, available to purchase, and in our system, therefore can and should be counted towards deciding the common name here.

Yes, they are released officially. But nobody set up a correct profile with DVDP. The profiles which are reflected by the CLT, are prerelease profiles fed with third party data (and since there are not even back covers nor any any cast, I'd assume really nobody own threse)...

This was the base, why I investigated into this. But unfortunately until the profiles exist, third party data is not allowed...

But as long as we can't find a common name, we still use the CLT. It might be blatantly wrong in detail, but overall it shows Robert N. with 111 titles ...

Sorry, I'm not understanding you I don't think.

Correct, no one set up a correct profile as of this moment.

It doesn't matter if they were set up as pre-release, they no longer are. It doesn't matter when a profile was submitted or why it was submitted, if it's been released and is in the system because it exists, it's legit.

Whether or not they're fed with third party data doesn't matter. We would never use third party data to determine a common name anyway. There's plenty of third party data out there that reflects in the CLT, hence the reason for common name threads. These discs DO exist, and ARE in the system, so whatever info they have right now, we need to figure out if it's correct (the point of common name threads) to use that info to determine a common name.

You said in your original post that I quoted "which can't be counted at all". They can and should be counted because they're in the system and legitimately exist. This is where I'm confused. Just because they don't have the info in them right now doesn't mean they can't be counted. Of course they can and of course they should. We just need to figure out the correct info.

And honestly, I wouldn't assume no one owns these. It's obviously possible that none of the users of the system own these. But I've had profiles in my system for years (that I downloaded when I originally started using the program that don't even have any contributors listed for them) that I finally got around to updating years later. I owned the film for all those years, just never got around to filling in the profile. Not everyone who uses the program updates. Some use it just to track, plain and simple. So you never know!
The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.
