hello,
good news for galaxy tab owners : I have now this device on test, and I found what was wrong with the export.expect a new version soon with automatic export for this.

I'm also looking for someone who could help me in the design of the screen layouts (colors, borders,...), kind of theming to make the app more sexy :-)

thanks for doing this.

If we had a wishlist - top of mine would be to have the title text resize to fit the space (or have it use two lines so I can read the title for all my profiles). Since there is no alternative - in order for me to tell which of my profiles is a blu ray, I've added Blu Ray as the edition on the relevent profiles. And since there is limited title space I often can't see this

There is only 1 version for all devices

Be sure to uninstall previous version and install the version you've just downloaded.

Bonjour Olivier,
I have lost sight of the evolutions of DROID-DVDP as it worked perfectly fine on both, my Samsung Galaxy Note and also on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
I also don't know the WebSite from where your App can be downloaded, I just remember that there were some problems because your site was hacked, I hope to find it again (somewhere)
Now I just found this post (which is rather new) and I have a problem:
I have a new Android-Tablet, the
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
which is quite new on the market.
It runs Android 4.0 ICS.
I have now installed on the new tablet the same Droid_DVDP.apk that I have installed on my Mobile Phone and on the old tablet, and I have copied my database to the new tablet.
The problem is, that after the installation ( and also now, after I have copied the database to the new tablet), the App just does not want to run!
All I get is a strange message that I don't understand, it just says:
"Version Expired
This debug version has expired. Try to download a new one."
At this point, I can just click "OK" and the App closes.

I am sorry if I may have missed some issues in this forum here and maybe the problem is solved already, but I did not find something.
And as you wrote about good news for tablet-owners, I thought I must ask YOU if you can help me to get the app running on the new tablet!?

Merci beaucoup en avance et a bientot,
Thomas

Go to the first post in this thread & download the android app (delete the old one that you have on your phone/tablet) & also download & install the export plugin, that should resolve the problem

I am awfully sorry, it was my fault!
I should have just read page 27 and then page 1 again, that would have solved the problem anyway.
I have done this after I have posted my question, and even though it took me quite some time, I have managed it now and it works well again, so all is fine
EXCEPT:
there is another problem which you may be able to help (or explain) me:
When I start the PlugIn from inside DVD-Profiler in order to export my database,
1.) when I use the option "Use ADB", it never detects any of my devices, no matter which way I connect the device and no matter how often I click on refresh.
So I got used to chose the option "No device (manual copy)" to export my database, but that leads me to my
2.) question: when I use this option, only the "droid_dvdp.db"-file is exported!?
If I then start Droid DVDP on my device, I have the database, BUT NO PICTURES (cover scans).
I am doing something wrong or how do I have to do the (manual) export properly in order to also include the coverscans on my devices?
Due to this, I also got used to copy the coverscans manually (and separately) from my PC to the devices, but I feel that this is not the correct way!?

I hope these are the last questions I have to bother you with,
apart from that, all is fine.

Thanks a lot for your ongoing help,
Thomas

Welcome to the club. I have never been able to have my phone detected. Ever. Can you get you tablet to be identified as a media storage device?  If so, then go find dvd_profile_ishere in hte dvdprofiler directory.
That should allow you to transfer both your database **AND** the covers to your device.

So I got used to chose the option "No device (manual copy)" to export my database, but that leads me to my

I don't have time right now, but unless you unchecked something to NOT transfer the covers, they should transfer. Be sure to use the Export "bar/button" at the lower right on the plugin.

I need to run.  Let us know how you are making out.

Dave

PS Questions are NEVER a bother!

Good news for galaxy users :

I managed to make the export working on a galaxy tablet

The restrinction is that you must enable debugging ('Settings -> Application -> Development -> USB debug ' must be checked).

I must still check that this is working on my device, because I used some '--colors' flags in the shell commands that I had to remove for the galaxy.

I hope that I'll can do this next week.

By the way, I had no answer about the help of an artist to help me in the design of the application

Regards,

Olivier.

@ Fingerlakes Dave:
I can get my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note) as well as my tablet (Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1) to be identified as a media storage device, I can navigate there to the correct folders through the button at the right side.
But as this also does not copy the coverscans, I create the database locally on my PC and then copy it manually to the device(s) along with the pictures.
And I am sure that I have checked nothing that prevents the pictures from being transferred!

@ Olivier:
Thanks you very much for your ongoing support!
Just to let you know that (for whatever reason) I cannot connect my phone to the PC via USB when "USB Debugging" is checked (active)!
It was possible earlier, but something has changed so I just can use the USB connection without USB-Debugging OR I just simply connect the phone to the PC and the connection works.
I have Gingerbread on my phone and made no upgrades.

On my tablet, however, it is still (or again?) possible to make a USB-connection with USB-Debugging on.
I have Ice Cream Sandwich on my tablet (Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1).

As far as the artwork is concerned, could you maybe let us know in some more detail what it is exactly that you want/need from us?
I am not a master of desktop-publishing, but maybe if I knew more about your needs, maybe I could help (if I have time, which is rarely the case).
But I would hate to suspect that you feel left alone by us unthankful users, even though you have developed a wonderful App for free!

Thanks,
Tom

@Tom: it is strange that it does not connect via SUB when SUB debugging is on ! are you using a custom Tom ?

can you go in the debug Window (bug icon close to the refresh button an send the 'ls -l' command and tell me the result ?

No, I;m not a custom Tom nor do I use a custom ROM!
I would never do that!
But I have ROOTED both devices, tablet AND phone!
Could that be the reason?

Quote:

The result is:
"Error: device not found"
Ah, I see, I have to include the quotes!
In this case the result is the following (of which I do not understand a single word!):

Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.29
-d                            - directs command to the only connected USB device
returns an error if more than one USB device is present.
-e                            - directs command to the only running emulator.
returns an error if more than one emulator is running.
-s <serial number>            - directs command to the USB device or emulator with
the given serial number. Overrides ANDROID_SERIAL
environment variable.
-p <product name or path>    - simple product name like 'sooner', or
a relative/absolute path to a product
out directory like 'out/target/product/sooner'.
If -p is not specified, the ANDROID_PRODUCT_OUT
environment variable is used, which must
be an absolute path.
devices                      - list all connected devices
connect <host>[:<port>]      - connect to a device via TCP/IP
Port 5555 is used by default if no port number is specified.
disconnect [<host>[:<port>]]  - disconnect from a TCP/IP device.
Port 5555 is used by default if no port number is specified.
Using this command with no additional arguments
will disconnect from all connected TCP/IP devices.
device commands:
adb push <local> <remote>    - copy file/dir to device
adb pull <remote> [<local>]  - copy file/dir from device
adb sync [ <directory> ]    - copy host->device only if changed
(-l means list but don't copy)
(see 'adb help all')
adb shell                    - run remote shell interactively
adb shell <command>          - run remote shell command
adb emu <command>            - run emulator console command
adb logcat [ <filter-spec> ] - View device log
adb forward <local> <remote> - forward socket connections
forward specs are one of:
tcp:<port>
localabstract:<unix domain socket name>
localreserved:<unix domain socket name>
localfilesystem:<unix domain socket name>
dev:<character device name>
jdwp:<process pid> (remote only)
adb jdwp                    - list PIDs of processes hosting a JDWP transport
adb install [-l] [-r] [-s] [--algo <algorithm name> --key <hex-encoded key> --iv <hex-encoded iv>] <file>
- push this package file to the device and install it
('-l' means forward-lock the app)
('-r' means reinstall the app, keeping its data)
('-s' means install on SD card instead of internal storage)
('--algo', '--key', and '--iv' mean the file is encrypted already)
adb uninstall [-k] <package> - remove this app package from the device
('-k' means keep the data and cache directories)
adb bugreport                - return all information from the device
that should be included in a bug report.
adb backup [-f <file>] [-apk|-noapk] [-shared|-noshared] [-all] [-system|-nosystem] [<packages...>]
- write an archive of the device's data to <file>.
If no -f option is supplied then the data is written
to "backup.ab" in the current directory.
(-apk|-noapk enable/disable backup of the .apks themselves
in the archive; the default is noapk.)
(-shared|-noshared enable/disable backup of the device's
shared storage / SD card contents; the default is noshared.)
(-all means to back up all installed applications)
(-system|-nosystem toggles whether -all automatically includes
system applications; the default is to include system apps)
(<packages...> is the list of applications to be backed up.  If
the -all or -shared flags are passed, then the package
list is optional.  Applications explicitly given on the
command line will be included even if -nosystem would
ordinarily cause them to be omitted.)
adb restore <file>          - restore device contents from the <file> backup archive
adb help                    - show this help message
adb version                  - show version num
scripting:
adb wait-for-device          - block until device is online
adb start-server            - ensure that there is a server running
adb kill-server              - kill the server if it is running
adb get-state                - prints: offline | bootloader | device
adb get-serialno            - prints: <serial-number>
adb status-window            - continuously print device status for a specified device
adb remount                  - remounts the /system partition on the device read-write
adb reboot [bootloader|recovery] - reboots the device, optionally into the bootloader or recovery program
adb reboot-bootloader        - reboots the device into the bootloader
adb root                    - restarts the adbd daemon with root permissions
adb usb                      - restarts the adbd daemon listening on USB
adb tcpip <port>            - restarts the adbd daemon listening on TCP on the specified port
networking:
adb ppp <tty> [parameters]  - Run PPP over USB.
Note: you should not automatically start a PPP connection.
<tty> refers to the tty for PPP stream. Eg. dev:/dev/omap_csmi_tty1
[parameters] - Eg. defaultroute debug dump local notty usepeerdns
adb sync notes: adb sync [ <directory> ]
<localdir> can be interpreted in several ways:
- If <directory> is not specified, both /system and /data partitions will be updated.
- If it is "system" or "data", only the corresponding partition
is updated.
environmental variables:
ADB_TRACE                    - Print debug information. A comma separated list of the following values
1 or all, adb, sockets, packets, rwx, usb, sync, sysdeps, transport, jdwp
ANDROID_SERIAL              - The serial number to connect to. -s takes priority over this if given.
ANDROID_LOG_TAGS            - When used with the logcat option, only these debug tags are printed.
