| Posted: | | | | Hello,
Does anyone have a trick or something to remove glue from sleeves ? I have a few that have no images in the profile and I'd like to clean them before scanning but I don't want to damage them. | | | My 4x4 Club: Club FJ Cruiser Quebec DVDP Français: Forum DVD Profiler Français DVDCOL:DVD Collectors Online Video: LG RU-42PX10 Audio: Sony DreamSystem DAVFX100W |

| Posted: | | | | there is a product here in the US called Goo Gone. ITs a nontoxic solvent that takes off just about anything. If its available where you live, thats what I would recommend. |

| Posted: | | | | Goo Gone is available in Canada, I found it on Canadian Tire's web site. While searching I also found something called "Simple Green" that apparently removes "Everything" without ever damaging "Anything". I'll try Goo Gone first and let you know.
Thanks. | | | My 4x4 Club: Club FJ Cruiser Quebec DVDP Français: Forum DVD Profiler Français DVDCOL:DVD Collectors Online Video: LG RU-42PX10 Audio: Sony DreamSystem DAVFX100W |

| Posted: | | | | simple green is great as an all purpose cleaner, but it isnt as good as goo gone at removing stuff like glue. Plus, it has a sickly sweet smell that I really do not like. |

| Posted: | | | | kovacs01, I found the picture of "Doc Holiday" and the words "it has a sickly sweet smell" in the same post as somehow extremely funny for some reason. Tough guy killer doesn't like the smell of a cleaner. Ok i have a weird sense of humor. Rob |

Thanks. I've been using Goo Gone for years, and it does a very good job. A few warnings however: Remove the cover art from the keep case before cleaning up sticker residue, and use sparingly. It leaves an oily residue if you use too much and will ruin cover art if not cleaned up right away. Keep tightly closed, as it has a very pungent odor that gets cloying quickly, and it will evaporate and become ineffective. | | | John

| Posted: | | | | If it's a keep case, I use a cotton bud (aka cotton swab) dipped in white spirit. Works well, but do as Rifter says and remove the actual cover from the case first as sometimes you get leakage.
If it's residue on a digipak, sometimes applying a healthy amount of spit to a cotton bud works. You need to rub a bit more aggressively (but don't go crazy) and it takes a fair bit of patience and quite a few cotton buds, but it does work. I managed to get the residue off one of my Canadian LORD OF THE RING extended editions using this method. It depends on the packaging as to whether you will end up taking off any print though, so use with caution. | | | Last edited: by Squirrelecto |

| Posted: | | | | sometimes i just sleep when reading these forums. If your talking about removing the leftover residue from a sticker on a keep case, take the paper cover out and then use a little peanut butter on the plastic, smooth/creamy works best. Peanut butter helps to remove labels and the leftover stickiness from most hard surfaces, and helps get gum out of your kids hair to(my mom used on me a few times as a kid, lol) Rob |

Rob Glad I could help you take a short nap. I did say "Sleeves" in my first post, I want to clean up the glue after removing stickers on the sleeves of some DVD's, not Keep Cases. | | | My 4x4 Club: Club FJ Cruiser Quebec DVDP Français: Forum DVD Profiler Français DVDCOL:DVD Collectors Online Video: LG RU-42PX10 Audio: Sony DreamSystem DAVFX100W |

With covers that have a gloss rather than a matt finish, I have had some success with the "spit on a cotton bud" approach I described above for digipaks, but I would proceed with caution. | | | Last edited: by Squirrelecto |

| Posted: | | | | Yeah, I thought you meant the cardboard sleeves, but when squirrel god mentioned keep cases it thought i'd mention how i clean mine. Using a very small amount of peanut butter will work on the cardboard sleeves with a gloss finish also, just make sure to rub gently, and make sure not to get it on the inside of the sleeve, the oil will soak in. We have used it several times and had good luck with it.

Rob I'll try that, I just remembered the first time I moved (25 years go)my mom told me to use peanut butter to remove the glue left by tape on furniture drawers and doors. | | | My 4x4 Club: Club FJ Cruiser Quebec DVDP Français: Forum DVD Profiler Français DVDCOL:DVD Collectors Online Video: LG RU-42PX10 Audio: Sony DreamSystem DAVFX100W |
