| Posted: | | | | I'd like some guidance here. I just finished watching eXistenZ, and I really enjoyed it.
I also remember seeing "The Fly" and really enjoying that.
I'm about to watch "A History of Violence" now, so I don't know if I'll like it or not, but in light of the two other movies, I should enjoy it.
So, my question is, what are the others movies that are worthwhile and that I should watch?
It's a shame really. I'm Canadian and I don't know about him too much. A shame, I know.
Oh yeah, for those who haven't caught on yet, I'm talking David Cronenberg movies.

| Posted: | | | | I love Cronenburg. eXistenZ and The Fly would be my two favourite Cronenburgs. eXistenZ is actually in my Top 10 favourite movies of all time.
History of Violence is excellent too, but a little different. You should enjoy it. Some people find it clichéd, but I think that's kind of the point of it.
Spider would be a nice one to try next. More in common with the Cronenburg's you've already seen than the ones you haven't. Great performances from Ralph Fiennes and Miranda Richardson too.
Videodrome and Naked Lunch, as 8ballMax mentions, are also great. Dead Ringers is excellent, and slightly less quirky. The Dead Zone I find a slightly weaker work - still very good though, just more grade B than grade A. Lots of people really love it though. |

I feel like Spider is near or at the top of Cronenberg's work, and I dont feel quite the same about The Dead Zone as squirrel. For Walken's preformance, i feel it is right up there. |

| Posted: | | | | That's a tough one... Basically all Cronenberg movies are great at least in one or the other way. You're always in for a pretty wild ride! Love that guy and just realize that I barely own any of them! Shame on me! | | | - Life is just a form of animated death. |

| Posted: | | | | I'm not keen on Cronenberg's films, but I did enjoy History of Violence. I think the hook for me though is that it was based on a graphic novel by John Wagner, a favourite writer of mine (he created Judge Dredd). Much of the films imagery was lifted straight of the page. With that in mind, if you like comics, you should enjoy Wagner's Button Man. I hear it's been in development as a film at one time or another, but it has masses of potential. It's a British set story, no sci-fi angle, and its basic theme is perhaps Hard Target, via History of Violence. Sticking with comics, History of Violence shares it's straightforward brutality with Preacher.
In film, I think History of Violence shares themes with Straw Dogs, The Killers, Touch of Evil, Shadow of a Doubt, and Kiss of Death. | | | Jon "When Mister Safety Catch Is Not On, Mister Crossbow Is Not Your Friend."
