| | Posted: | | | | I think you can still use clamshell, even though the one displayed is radically different as the case you show is definitely called a clamshell case.
Problem is, I wasn't around when these descriptions were decided upon, so I don't know anything about the history of the clamshell case displayed on the first page. I know that when a similar type were used in the old VHS days, they were called clamshell cases - maybe that's where it came from.
Edit: it's possible that both case types are right, maybe it originally developed as an adaptation of the VHS original, but then developed into the shape we know now, fitting the medium in a much different way. | | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

/Ulf The thickness part sounds right. I'd say the HD Slim are around half the thickness of a HD Keep. Speaking from experience, in the UK the vast majority of our Blu-ray releases are in HD Keep Cases. I've only got a handful in HD Slim, and most of those were early purchases. Inversely, it seems that the US mostly uses HD Slim cases, using the thicker variant only for multiple disc releases. |

In the Netherlands we use the thinner type, there's a very noticable difference in thickness. |

Sweden matches the Netherlands in that then. Movie cases are 2/3 the thickness of regular Keep Cases and ususally made of transparent blue plastic. |
