A powerful feature not often discussed is HTML sections. You can arrange DVD metadata virtually in any way you want it, albeit only one at a time.

Does anybody want to share some really cool ones? A screen shot would be nice. And if you are able to show it without revealing personal information, share the HTML contents. You can use the [FONT] tag to save scrolling space in the thread.

This is the way the font tag for small text works.

Or if your file is really big, maybe ask people to request a PM.

I agree with mediadogg.
HTML Windows is not something that I have delved into, but it would be very interesting to see what others have done.

I use HTML on the overviews and do so by finding the exact font(s) or the closest one(s) I can find and making the overview window look like the back of the cover. As a former desktop publisher, I find it fun to view a profile with the correct sizes and fonts.

Can we have it?    Even though the fonts have probably been tailored to the specific profile, it could be a lesson on how to do things.

Need to get paid? I wouldn't mind hosting it for you. If you want to charge for it, I can send you PayPal with the net proceeds when you get a sale.

Or just post into my PM. It will eventually go away, so no wasted space.

This is one of the simpler ones, 3:10 to Yuma (4K) UPC031398263135:

<span style="font-family:HelveticaNeueLT Pro 65 Md"><span style="font-size:76.5pt;line-height:53.5pt;float:left;color:firebrick;font-family:NIGHTMARE PILLS;">I</span>
<span style="letter-spacing:-8pt"> n</span>famous outlaw Ben Wade (Crowe) and his vicious gang of thieves
<span style="letter-spacing:-8pt"> a</span>nd murderers have plagued the Southern Railroad. When Wade is captured, Civil War veteran Dan Evans (Bale) volunteers to deliver him alive to the “3:<span style="letter-spacing:-1.5pt">10</span> to Yuma<span style="letter-spacing:-1.5pt">,”</span> a train that will take the killer to trial. But with Wad<span style="letter-spacing:-.5pt">e’s</span> outfit on their trail – and dangers at every turn – the mission soon becomes a violent, impossible journey toward each man<span style="letter-spacing:-1pt">’s</span> destiny.</span>

You need the exact fonts installed in Windows to replicate the look and of course set the overview section to use HTML.

Thank you, but I think we are talking about two different things. I think you are discussing the use of HTML in a custom overview (I didn't know you could do that - I know that you can do that in Notes).

I am interested in the "HTML Section" where metadata is presented to your HTML scripts supplied directly from the profile. HTML sections are not specific to a profile. The metadata comes in the form of Invelos "DP Vars".

Navigate to the "View\HTML Windows\Edit\Edit HTML Sections" window.  Next add a HTML section via the "HTML Sections" tab.  Within the Section Name field on the left side perform a right click selecting the "New" option.  When doing so you'll receive the prompt, "Enter a unique name for this HTML section".  I named mine "Overview".  Once added it will appear in the Section Name field to the left.  Highlight it then entering what HTML you'd like to use for it in the right field choosing OK when you're done.  Below is an example of what I use. (Comes in especially handy with my TV series profiles as seen here.)

Quote:
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<STYLE type="text/css"> a {text-decoration:none;}
BODY {padding: 0px; margin: 0px; background-color: black;}
P {padding-top: 10px; padding-left: 10px; padding-right: 10px; padding-bottom: 10px; margin: 0px; color: white; font: 10pt Arial;}
</STYLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY LINK="#FFFFFF" VLINK="#FFFFFF" ALINK="808080">
<p><DP NAME="OVERVIEW"></p>
</BODY>
</HTML>

You'll then want to be sure the HTML section you just created is selected, i.e. the HTML Window is visible within your layout.  To check on this navigate back to "View\HTML Windows" confirming that the HTML section you just created is listed below the "Edit" option and that it's checked. (And yes, your regular "Overview" window will still be visible.  You'll need to deselect it via "View\Windows".)

Oh, I get it now. There is no option, as for Notes. But an easy way to accomplish same. I see now: thanks.

I think I will use your example in my testing. (Yes ... something is brewing)

@mreeder50:

I am testing your example, and on my system the text does not show. Not as an HTML window, not as an external HTML file. The font is Arial, a common one, nothing odd there. Any ideas?

Edit: NM. Bug in my code.

The spaces before the n and the a are alt0160 spaces because the regular spaces won't work for the negative "letter-spacing". If you copy my example and paste in the HTML overview window you will have to use the alt0160 space and delete the regular one. Note: do not highlight the regular space and try to replace it with the alt0160 space because it will not work. Also, you would have to download and install the exact fonts you see next to "font-family". I could email them to you for your testing. Following Lowpros instructions you then have to turn off the regular overview under View\Windows and turn on the overview under View\HTML Windows.

I hope this is as clear as mud.

Thanks. Not needed. I am familiar with the things you are talking about. I had a program bug. And I know how to code HTML windows and how to enable and dock windows in DVDP. My original question was purely due to interpreting your comment "set the Overview section to use HTML" in the Overview - which you cannot do, as a DVDP option. But there is an option to do it for Notes. That was my only original question - I thought you meant doing it the way you do it for Notes.

So please, no need to keep giving me tutorials on HTML windows and HTML coding and escape sequences.

In the HTML for DP_Var for cast and crew, there are some refernce numbers as part of the name for HTML HREF elements

For cast: <A HREF="_dpcast_15513">

For Crew: <A HREF="_dpcrew_14811,6">

Does anybody know or have a guess about what those numbers refer to? I'm thinking internal index to cast or crew tables or IMDB reference, or ???, and for crew the second number is ???

first number: internal DB id, because upon clicking it opens that person's preview window

second crew number: section index: 0 direction, 1 writing, etc
