| | Posted: | | | | In 2.4 I selected a button on the Add dialog to use my CueCat, and it decrypted it just fine. How do I do this in 3.0? I see people saying they are using a CueCat, but when I try mine I 9 digits and most of those are 3. |

I think the cuecat scans the full barcode but 2.4 stripped the first digit so in theory all should work in 3.0 as long as they don't strip that digit. | | | Greetz,

Are you running catnip or similar in teh background...? If yes, you may want to turn it off.

DVDProfiler only reads the numbers out of that string.
This is the same result I would get in 2.4 if I didn't use the scan feature that was on the Add DVD dialog. Before 2.4 I used catnip because DVDProfiler couldn't support unencrypting the CueCat output. Then they added that feature, and now I don't see it. |

DVDProfiler only reads the numbers out of that string. This means your CueCat is still locked (or whatever it is they are). What it transmits needs to be decoded. There is a driver for that, called cat<something> (can't remember)... I'll see if I can find it. There you go. The cuecats were originally set up to transmit information to the company who made them. CatNip removed that "function". Adidtionally it allows you to set up profiles to modify the output (like for DVDP 2.x you could have it automatically strip the extranous digits). You had to visit a certain web page then use the cuecat. The encrypted data was then read by that company and used. Catnip merely removes the decryption, as did DVDProfiler 2.4. frizzlefryd, thanks for that link. I haven't seen that in quite a while and I'll give it a try. |

On the "CatNip Settings" Tab
Select data for Output Type
no Seperator
under Teminator select Return
under audible, I just keep it at the default setting
under Timeout select 1250
On the "CatNip Profiles" tab
Click on Add Profile, select a name, I used "DVD Profiler"
Click on Add Scan, type UPA , click on Filter, typ in 12 Plus signs (+), click on save scan
Now when you go to enter a DVD by UPC you should be able to just scan it, and it should be decoded.
I no longer use this program, i have "Declawed" my cuecats. The hardest part about it was figuring out what version of the board and where the jumper went. I have 4 cuecats and 3 different versions.
If you have a PS2 version you can purchase a PS2 to USB adapter for it and hook it up to the USB port on your computer, the piece that used to hook to the keyboard can just be left unhooked.
A Radio Shack Part Number 26-724 Should work, the 26-241 i have is discontinued.

The USB Was purchased already declawed, I have never declawed the PS2 version because I cant match any of the version info n mine to the howto I have seen. On teh machine with the PS2 I run Catnip and it has worked fine for years.

| | Posted: | | | | I declawed one and it works fine now. I have a PS2 model and I found a website that included instructions for multiple versions. All I had to do was break the tenth pin on a 44 pin chip. It had 11 pins per side, and they are quite small. I just shoved the pin with a small screwdriver til it broke free of the circuit board. Now it works just fine.
It's actually better this way than the way I was using it. With the prior version of DVDProfiler it was a multistep process to enter via the cuecat, however it was integrated and didn't require catnip. The first versions of DVDProfiler did require catnip as I recall. |
