LoadDVD V2.37 Available

This is a bug fix release - no new functions.

- Added code to prevent exceptions when a new DVD is selected
- Fixed a packaging error introduced when compiling for Windows 8

This version should work on all versions of Windows from XP to Windows 8, although I am reluctant to support Vista.

@DaveArtis, give it a shot. Maybe we got lucky, although there was nothing specific I did to address your situation because I don't recognize the code that you posted.

LoadDVD V2.38 Available

This is a bug fix release - no new functions.

- The "series" specification attempted to play a file with the Microsoft verb "play", which would fail on some types of media files. To fix this, the verb "open" is tried first, and only if that fails, "play" is attempted.

The other functions of LoadDVD that play media already have this logic, and work as expected.

I just found another place that could lead to errors on "DVD Selected". I hope that when I release the fix, I will have finally nailed the issue. It turns out to be a result of a Profile having a null (not just blank) Location. I found several places to fix. I observed the problem when sorting my collection by Location and a profile with a null location scrolled to the top.

Announcement - Restrictions when running on Remote Database
You will experience serious errors using any function of LoadDVD that attempts to modify a profile, which Invelos does not allow from the client of a remote database.

- MyLinks Import
- Filepath Add

A future release will implement this restriction and remove the error situation.

Is it possible to get two more fields in MyLinks bulk import?
It would be nice to get Score (integer with values 0-100) and Show in trailers window (boolean).

It would be nice to get a MyLinks bulk import that will replace the old links.

Right now I have to delete my old links with Clear From Flagged ... which takes some time on ~2000 profiles.
I guess a bulk import with replace function would take the same time as the current import.

And since Paste and Replace Links is already available in DVDP this should probably easy to implement.

Since the export is taking more time than I thought (I won't bore you with the details), the code is still open, so I will take a look and let you know.

I've just seen, there are two bugs in Export Flagged MyLinks:

1. If an URL ends with a comma, the comma is omitted in the CSV file.
2. The title-field in an export will be filled with the title of the selected movie in all rows, even if the selected movie isn't flagged.*

*I don't care about the title-field, but if you include it in the export, it should be correct.

Forget this, this has been my fault.

Ok, I will look into bug#2, and the option to replace instead of add to existing.

But there is no way for me to support the other two fields. Even if I import them,  the Invelos tools do not give plugins any way to insert them into the profile. Sorry.

Actually, it would be great if all these features were replaced by a more complete and robust My Links set of features in the main product, rather than a plugin. Maybe you can submit a Features Request once you are certain about all the options you need.

LoadDVD V2.41 Available

This release improves and fixes issues in the My Links Import / Export functions:
- My Links Export has been improved to remove "bug#2" found by StaNDarD.
- Online Links Export attempts to use DVDP "Copy Online Links" internally, but that command sometimes fails. In these cases, LoadDVD automatically pulls the equivalent information directly from the Online Links web page. The output format and results should be virtually identical in either case.

- My Links Import has a number of minor bugs repaired
- My Links Import has a major performance enhancement - maybe by a factor of 10 - 100
- My Links Import is by default additive, but an option has been added to clear prior links.

All of these improvements will be automatically rolled up into the next release of the "Pro" version at a later date, due to the work in progress on other Pro features.

Hi mediadogg,

This update is perfect regarding the export of online links and my links.

But somehow I can't import my links anymore. Even when I try to import from an exported csv file.
Whenever I try, the progressbar fills up to 100% and then I get an error:

(Object reference not set to an instance to an object)

In the end no data has been imported.

The checkbox Clear existing My Links cleared all My Links from all profiles. I didn't expect this.
I thought it would only clear My Links from profiles within the csv file. Though this might be the intended behavior, it might mislead others, too.

Wow, I tested a lot. Didn't expect this level of problems.

It might have been a last minute change that I forgot to re-test.

Of course your intuition is correct - my intention was to clear My Links only for the profiles that are loaded from the CSV file. It is a little tough for me to believe, because I never access a profile unless it is found. Maybe something else is going on.

One thing to check: Before you do the import, make sure to clear all flags. After processing a profile, I flag it. So if a profile isn't flagged, it didn't get touched. I also set the changed indicator on the profile.

I just can't understand how all links could have been cleared, especially since you are saying that nothing got imported. Please double check to see that you had My Links in the profiles to start with. The Import is done in two passes. The first pass reads the CSV file and assembles the links to added, using profileID as the key. (Yours crashes at this point). Then in pass two, I iterate through all the keys and perform the My Links updates. Since you are not getting to pass 2, I don't see how the profiles are being impacted. But I will research it. I just hope that you will double check for me.

Would you mind retrying this? I need to be absolutely sure, because it will likely take a lot of time to figure out.

But I will investigate. Thanks for the report. Keep me posted if you discover anything else.

Well, I found one bug. And it involves a pointer to the current profile. Let me fix that and see if that was the issue. Why it works for me is baffling. And why yours crashes after Pass 1 has also got me stumped.

Made a couple more logic updates. I think I have been bitten by something that happens rarely - that somehow my test environment makes me think I am testing the latest change, when in fact I'm running old code. So I might have thought I was testing changes, but actually not. Anyways, I think I''m on to it.

Aha, I finally hit the crash. It was when the profile has empty My Links to begin with. Almost there.

I really don't know what to say...

Yesterday evening all tries ended with the mentioned error message.
This morning all tries ended with the mentioned error message.

Now...

it works like a charm... every time...

I don't know what exactly I'm doing different.

I have restarted DVDP several times between my tests, so this shouldn't be the reason.

I have tried to reproduce this error now with flagged profiles, filtered profiles, different cvs files. All is going well.

The only thing I can imagine is: I restored my database from a backup this morning after my tests. Maybe there was an error in my database?!
