| Posted: | | | | I don't think I've seen one never-ending argument since the system went into place.
So far, I'd rate it a success. |

| Posted: | | | | Other than the never-ending argument (in that now-locked thread) about the system, I agree. The system is definitely working wonders, that's for sure. And it's had the side-effect of me coming out of lurk-mode a lot more often than in the past. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that others have done the same. So, yeah, big thumbs up. | Posted: | | | | ACK! the wording in the forums is much more moderate. Hopefully it's not a temporary effect! I'm very curious what happens, if a newbie starts a thread like: "Is there a plugin for direct import of IMDB cast and crew into the profiler", or "My profiler does not recognize any of my cd's" This could be a kind of litmus test for the system. | | | Thorsten |

| Posted: | | | | I still have faith in the system.
But no matter how well a system is designed, it is doomed if the people do not give it a chance.
Overall, I still say it is an outstanding success. The amount of bickering that has occurred is significantly lower than it was before. I've seen posts from several people commenting that they are coming out of lurk due to the system. I've seen others say that they're removing everyone from their block list due to the system.
That speaks volumes in and of itself. |

I think that the reputation system has precipitated an absolute sea change in the tenor of this forum, and an attendant upswing in the usefullness. I was initially quite skeptical about how the forum could be dragged out of the morass into which it had sunk, but the results are IMHO amazing. I am exceptionally pleased with the reputation system, and I think it has brought a new level of civility to this meeting place. | | | -fred |

That speaks volumes in and of itself. Exactly. I tend to think of undeserved negative votes as collateral damage serving a greater cause. Sure, there's probably some negative votes being given willy-nilly that shouldn't have been, but that doesn't take away from the fact that the system works. And considering a small number of undeserved negatives won't imapct anyone's ability to post, I'm thinking it's well worth it. KM | | | Tags, tags, bo bags, banana fana fo fags, mi my mo mags, TAGS! Skip actually that is the first breakout of a problem thread in weeks, and as others have stated the forums are moving along much more smoothly... the differance between any of my posts that you claim would get negative votes, and yours which i am sure that you have is this... i don't clearly state and assume others are out to get me, provoking a fight... i also don't reply overusing caps and calling the user base "unbelievable". i also do not make extreme statements that are impossible to prove. feel free to browse any of my posts, i assure you that i am so confident in the system, any negative votes i would receive would be reversed... i am, and always have been on these forums, a good boy | | | -JoN |

That speaks volumes in and of itself. ... I cleared my blocking list right at the start of the system to see if it works. - And I agree with the tenor in this thread: I feel it works... AA | | | Complete list of Common Names • A good point for starting with Headshots (and v11.1) |

| Posted: | | | | For the longest time I avoided joining this forum due to the antagonistic approach of some of its members, even though I have been a staunch advocate of the Profiler software. Since this new reputation system has been put in place, I've noticed a considerable drop in the amount of sarcasm and otherwise blatant rudeness in the posts. I now find myself spending as much time here as I do at my other favorite DVD forums.
Give it time, it's just the people who are stymied by the process that are complaining. |
