Populated with what though?

Profiles that follow the rules.  You may think it is getting harder to use this program, but I am seeing more and more new names on my 'pending updates' page.  Some need a nudge in the right direction, but most are doing just fine following the rules and using the program.

In all fairness, I feel it's appropriate to acknowledge the fact that Skip DID eventually remove his no-vote (he switched to 'neutral'). Thank you for that, Skip. My update has since been approved. Case closed - at least I hope it won't be necessary to start all over again in a few months time...

That is good to hear.  The last indication was that he was going to let it stand because he was mad at you.  It is good to know he changed his mind.  Thanks for setting the record straight.

It is interesting to note that the vote was neutral and not yes.

That's completely within his rights, Hal. I've voted neutral plenty times when I don't agree with a change but know it follows the rules.

Hello everyone, after reading this whole thread last night I have come to one conclusion, Skip was right about one thing for sure MORE confusion, so Im going to come right out and ask a few questions in particular. And keep in mind this may or may not be becouse of a contribution, I would just like to clarify for future use. So for these titles in question here is what Ive got and please let me know if it is right or wrong as far as the concensus goes. If I do make these kinds of contributions in the future Id like to be right.

1.Ace Ventura Double feature 012569-804340 slip case for the parent, thinpak for the children
2.Back to the Future Trilogy 025192-212123 keepcase for parent and child
3.Band of Brothers 026359-920523 Custom, does this have children?
4.Dark Angel Complete Season 1&2 slipcase-thinpak
5.Evil Dead Ultimate Custom
6.The Flintstones Yabba Dabba 2pk Slipcase-digipak
7.Ghostbusters Double slipcase-thinpak
8.All The Lord of the Rings Extended Digipak-slipcover
All of which the parent profile has no audio/video, cast/crew, features, subtitles, disc info.

Sorry for the long post but I just want to be clear on what the community wants.

I can't help but wonder since we are talking abut contents and NOT CASE type. Then would a TWO disc set with a Slip Cover not be just a Keep Case or perhaps Digipak(as appropriate). IF we are actually discussing CASE TYPE, then contents are irrelevant and the definition is wrong.

Mike,
I'm not sure what you're asking there - are you asking if these profiles have the correct case type?
If so, ideally we need more info, but I'll try.
1. Sounds right as long as each disc is in it's own thinpak.
2. If this is one big keep case that contains all the discs, then yes, each profile gets keep case.
3. This one can have children as it's a TV series. Is it the tin? If so, the parent will get custom. The children will get whatever's holding the discs (I'm assuming some form of digipak)
4. Are the discs in their own thinpaks? If so, yes - parent = slipcase, child = thinpaks
5. This only contains one film, right? In that case, custom would seem right if it's a custom box.
6. If there is only one digipak, then parent gets digipak with slip cover ticked. Children get digipak.
7. Again, if there are separate thinpaks, then slipcase-thinpak is right.
8. If you're talking about the sets I think you are, then yes - there is only one profile and only one digipak, so digipak, slipcover box ticked is right.

I hope this helps!

@Skip - is there a question there, cos I haven't got a clue what your post means!

It's simple we are talking about CONTENTS according to Ken's directive. Thus a a Slip Case (Case Type) that contains a Digipak, is a Digipak NOT a Slip Case. So, it would seem to follow that a a Multi-disc Keep Case would simply be a Keep case and the Slip Cover would not be checked. That would seem to be following the logic of CONTENT as opposed to CASE TYPE.

1.Ace Ventura Double feature 012569-804340 slip case for the parent, thinpak for the children
Yes

2.Back to the Future Trilogy 025192-212123 keepcase for parent and child
If all the discs are in one thick keepcase, then yes

3.Band of Brothers 026359-920523 Custom, does this have children?
Yes, and it does have children, but since the main profile has all the data it's not necessary to get them.  Pretty sure the children are digipak.

4.Dark Angel Complete Season 1&2 slipcase-thinpak
Yes (and I'm assuming you're talking about 2 different box sets here, not Season 1 and 2 being sold under 1 UPC and contained in 1 box)

5.Evil Dead Ultimate Custom
Yes

6.The Flintstones Yabba Dabba 2pk Slipcase-digipak
Not sure about this one.  Are there 2 separate digipak's inside?  If so, then this is correct.  If there's just one digipak then the parent is digipak with slipcover, children just digipak.

7.Ghostbusters Double slipcase-thinpak
Yes, if each movie has it's own thinpak.

8.All The Lord of the Rings Extended Digipak-slipcover
Yes

All of which the parent profile has no audio/video, cast/crew, features, subtitles, disc info.
No, Band of Brothers and Dark Angel being TV series will have all this info in the parent profile.  Child profiles are optional for TV Series.

Thanks Vega for the response it all helped greatly,

on the Flintstones it has what I would call a slipcase with a single digipak, one two sided disc?

And as far as the tv series, if we use child profiles do we still keep the info in the parent?

For the Flintstones that should be changed to Digipak+Slipcover based on how Ken wants us to do it.  I think pretty much everyone would refer to it's packaging as "slipcase" in normal conversation, but for DVDP purposes it's classified as a "slipcover" since it contains a single item.

As for the TV Series, that's up to you want you want to do in your own local DB.  If you downloaded the children and don't want the redundant data then go ahead and wipe it out of the parent profiles and lock them.  It was done like that as a compromise for TV Series because 1/2 the community wanted them treated like movie box set and 1/2 the community wanted TV series to have ALL the data in a single profile.  As a compromise it was decided to do both.  Then you have the option of downloading the single profile for the season or you can download the children instead and divide up the season by discs.

That is a local matter more than anything else, I don't. I treat them just as i would any other Boxset. For those that want the parent p[rofile they would want all that data.

I follow the logic (I think).  I just looked at a couple of my TV series which are stored in a single, multi-disc keepcase: Gunsmoke: Season 1 and The Mod Squad: Season 1 Volume 1).  These all came sans slipcover/slipcase (whatever you wish to call a wrapper) -- so I'd call them Keepcases (which is how they're described in the database).

But I also have some TV series which came in a multi-disc digipak with no outer wrapper (which means, of course, that the discs can fall out on the floor whenever you pick the damn set up).  These I'd classify as digipaks.

Half correct.  This would be a Digipak with the Slip Cover option checked.

You would be correct UNLESS the multi-disc keep case was inside of a cardboard sleeve of some sort.  It it was, then the Slip Cover would be checked.

TV series sets have all the information in the parent as well as the child profiles...at least for the online db.
