No... it is saying enter the number and the episode title. it says to use the format of 1. episode name.

Not to put number... then episode then name.

episode name clearly means what you use when there is an episode name available.

I knew I should have entered a smiley. So much for my attempt at humour.

But at least Skip seemed to get it..

he is doing exactly as the rule states - Enter Number enter word Episode Enter Title  of episode

In fact - does this mean that we have to chaneg all the titles in the database so these follow the leter of this rule?

He is not following the rule exactly as that is not what the rule states.  The rule states to use the format "1. Episode Title".  The word 'format' means the pattern into which data are systematically arranged.  In that context, it means you enter the episode number and the episode title.

Your suggestion that he is doing exactly as the rule states requires him to ignore the word 'formatted'.  If he were doing that, each episode with a title would have a divider that read "1. Episode Title".  Why?  Because the rule does not say "enter word episode," nor does it say "enter Title of episode."

Sorry, but your reasoning is flawed.

I wasn't actually thinking that he was correct. I was trying (on a Tuesday morning) to be funny.. I really should have added some smileys..

I am glad to see you were not serious... but you (Note: Meaning everyone) got to realize... especially around here where there is language barriers and people that will do (or try to do anything and everything)... there will be people to read that type of thing and take it seriously. Which is dangerous when it is in the contribution forum.

I personally am a person that reads things as they are written. With no use of a smiley or anything to note sarcasm or joking of any type... reading it as typed sounded like nothing but a serious statement. And it is obviously not just me as Unicus read it the same way... and then there is the person that are making the submission. so it is obvious (to me at least) that stuff like this will cause us problems. So sarcasm/joking without some way for people to know it is just that can cause problems. At least in this section of the forum.

Note that this is not aimed at you in particular... but a plea to the entire community to understand we need to be careful with sarcasm/joking in this particular area of the forums.

Thanks for the clarification.  Much like Pete, I read things as they are written.  The lack of a smiley is what threw me off and had me  .

Thanks for the clarification.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I think it's because there are some people who post here who say things like you did and are serious about it that we overlook thing said in jest.  I've even missed a joke when there's a smiley in the message.

It's too bad the contributor who did this is unwilling to respond to the PMs, though.

Well... each profile has 3 no votes and no yes votes... so I doubt it will slip by her anyway. If it does somehow slip in I will just have to upload the fix I guess.

I just looked and the submission with Cast and Crew lists that was done without the episode numbers in the dividers was declined (with more yes votes then no votes)... so where she saw that as a violation enough to decline it... I am fairly certain that she will decline the 3 submissions where he added the word episode to all the episode titles in the dividers.

Well... not that I am surprised... but the ALF disc level profiles...

Quote:
1. ALF Pilot - changing to - 1. Episode ALF Pilot
2. On the Road Again - changing to - 2. Episode On the Road Again
3. Pennsylvania 6-5000 - changing to - 3. Episode Pennsylvania 6-5000
etc...

Has been declined. Though I do have to wonder what Gerri thought when she saw those submissions!
