They did write the song She's Like the Wind but not originaly for the movie Dirty Dancing:
Quote:
Swayze and Stacy Widelitz co-wrote the song in 1984, originally for the soundtrack of Grandview, U.S.A.. It was not, however, used in that film.

So if you have this DVD in your collection and have them with a songwriter credited for this movie:
kindly remove those:

Although the song was not "specifically written" for the film Dirty Dancing, it's still is an original song in my book since it was the first time the song was released publicly and only became famous because of that movie.

If the film was the first public release for this song, it's original.

That is not relevant on the other hand.

Made this same correction for a profile a year ago.  I'd forgotten to do it for my BD profile.  Thanks for the reminder.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

I also just noticed that one of the remaining songwriter (Franke Previte) names is misspelled in 27 of 29 Dirty Dancing profiles.

Frankie Previte -> Bad
Franke Previte -> Good!

==========
And on the original subject the Blu-ray disc has a pop-up trivia track that mentions the source of She's Like the Wind at 1:23:15 into the film.

  Didn't mean to state it like a cliffhanger.

The trivia track backs up Wikipedia and says it was written for Grandview USA.
