Since the majority of my collection is Mixed Martial Arts shows I don't have much of a choice. I can only think of 3 titles that are actually on Blu ray (for region A in North America anyway). |

| | Posted: | | | | I would have to say that I'm still a big fan of Film no matter what the format. I love Blu Ray but my purchases are still mainly value driven. If the film does not have a lot of features or is not an audio visual feast to begin with then I stick to standard def. I love that I can go to the crap bin at walmart and still pull out standard def gems for 5 bucks! Beats renting anytime. One thing though. If I can get the Blu disc version for only a couple bucks more then I almost always go Blu. Hence Pelam 123 last week. 19.99 Blu Ray or 17.99 standard. Went Blu. |

It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.

| | Posted: | | | | Yeah, the BD-Live thing actually kind of weirds me out.  The majority of my purchases are still dvd. The cost of BD is just too high for me. I'm an unemployed student, these days when I can pick up a movie (which is about 100% less frequently than I used to), it's all about cost. I have a nice set-up, so DVDs look pretty amazing on my t.v. anyway. I can't justify picking up Inglourious Basterds for $29.99 on BD when the dvd was $17.99 and I have school fees coming up. Maybe once I'm done school, but until then, it's only the really special occasions I make sure to get the BD. | | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |

If the Blu Ray is highly rated, I'll go that route. If the general consensus is that the Blu Ray does not seem to offer a significant increase in quality, video or audio, I usually go standard DVD. |

| | Posted: | | | | I dont find any reason to get movies like Funny People or Pink Panther on Blu. Its the grand movies with great cinematography like Australia and Planet Earth or blockbusters like Transformers, Dark Knight, and the Pirates trilogy. Hell even Pixars flicks look absolutely stunning.
But I am finding, as previously pointed out, that some Blu-rays are coming out cheaper than their single disc dvd counterpart, ie Hangover. I bought the unrated Blu-ray for $15.99, whereas the single disc rated edition was $18.99 and 2-disc unrated was $22.99. In that case I will go Blu on what I would consider a non-blu-worthy movie.
All Blu-rays look amazing, if transferred correctly, but it wont be til prices REALLY drop to what we're used to seeing in dvds when everyones Blu collection will spike. |

Timing meaning if you want a new release on the Tuesday it comes out, then yeah, the price for a Blu-ray is generally higher than for the DVD. | | Posted: | | | | Merrik, I notice you're Canadian. Ever heard of CHCanada.com? They always have about 20 Blu-ray titles at $13.99, and they change them up every week, usually on Monday or Tuesday. They often have free shipping promos too.
Also, what part of Canada are you from? There's a store in Toronto that sells new Blus at $14.99 and used at $9.99. It's called IC Video and it's located at 2714 Yonge, nearest subway is Lawrence. Not, they don't have new release titles, but if you're willing to wait it's a good place.
