I realize there are two encodes of The Descent. I have the AVC version, which is the original. Is that what you have? I didn't make any false conclusions. I only said that you show surround and I don't. I wasn't saying you were wrong, only that people shouldn't remove surround info from discs based on BD Info Pro unless they are sure they can see surround info in the first place. If people have established they can see surround info, they can change it to whatever they see.

That's right, the AVC MPEG-4 encode of The Descent was the first Blu-ray, and then they reissued it in MPEG-2. I got those mixed up in my earlier post. I also own the original AVC version...which is the best. The later MPEG-2 Blu-ray of The Descent is less sharp and has DNR noise reduction (smoother looking) applied and thus there's less film grain present. Comparisons here.

Edit: I just popped in my Blu-ray of The Descent, and I also get a reading that the commentary tracks do not show up as "Surround" via BD-Info.

Funny thing is, that bob9000 is on his personal agenda right now and changes all YES votes to NO votes, because of a false conclusion that Ace Of Stevens made.

This was no attack vs you Ace, this was a "shake head at disbelief" at that bob guy, who immediately changed all votes to NO after your one post about "The Descent", he changed the votes to all titles and directed to your post with a comment, "beware, that program can't be trusted". I would bet a fortune , that this bob guy do not even have that program installed himself, otherwise he could have checked that all my contributions are correct. I just cannot deal with stupidity and ignorance

And yes ,Ace, I have the new encode of The Descent.
That is prolly the reason, that BDInfo gives different results to your Blu-ray.

cheers

Yeh, that is what I thought, that the old version has different encoded audio tracks.
That also explains why my version has a different DISK ID
What really worries me is, that this bob guy now thinks the program is bogus and cannot be trusted.....

Some persons just make me speechless.

Just to let you all know.

That guy is voting NO without even checking if I am correct, he just votes NO for the fun of it.
He is on vacation, with no opportunity to look into this, he doesnt have that program installed or anything.

This is hilarious, I think this needs to be reported to INVELOS, that this guy is definitely abusing the voting system.

I got proof of this, as he was smart enough to tell me that in a pm, rofl.

And I said quite clearly in my vote than my vote was based on Ace_of_Sevens findings. Complete and absolute truth. Why so you insist, yet again, on the personal attacks.

This is insane. Darkly PMs me claiming he will be civl. I PM back saying I will look into it. Then he proceeds to attack me in the forums, his contribution notes as well as sending me message after message of unfiltered vitriol, even after I start removing the no votes for more investigation... he also claims to have reported me for abuses. I just do not understand his problem.

Buddy, your first message was sufficient, no need to turn everything into a battle.

Who is turning things into a battle here ?
Changing all YES votes to NO votes without a reason, without a proof, without even having the program installed to check on it......
This is cleary an abuse of the voting sytem, if I vote NO on valuable and very well documented contributions, without bothering to even check on those contributions that I do.

And for the record, i am NOT your buddy, I do not like you.

Do you speak of BDInfo? Or SlySoft's AnyDVD which has to be bought to break the Blu-ray's copy protection first?

Known Issues:

    * BDInfo will *NOT* function correctly with copy-protected discs.

I am talking about BDInfo Tool 0.53.

But I also said that the BD Info Tool gives awarning about copy protection, but as I own Any DVD HD, this is no issue.

But I have checked 5 Blu-rays now without Any DVD HD running and the results regarding Surround or Stereo are exactly the same, so it does not matter if someone has ANy DVd HD running.

My findings don't support your vote, though. I attribute not being able to see the surround to either the software not working correctly on all computers, though it could be the audio got changed with the re-encode. I'm saying people shouldn't make changes unless they've confirmed the software works on their computer, which DarklyNoon has done.

I have the Batman series. I'll check it when I get home. I have the US versions, but the US and UK used the same disc IDs.

Important too is , at least I think so, that you remove the copy protection with Any DVD HD, so that the BDInfo Tool can read everything correctly.

So you have to break the Blu-ray copy protection first to be able to use BDInfo.

Could somebody test if DVDFab's Passkey returns the same results as SlySoft's AnyDVD HD, please?

YES, the program says difficulties can occur if the copy protection is still enabled.
And with some disks it gets different results (a warning window appears, that the stream has copy protection)
Then the Surround flag and also other information is not shown completely.

So to be SAFE AND SOUND, you should have ANY DVD HD or a similar program running to use the BDInfo Tool 0.53 correctly.

Ace,

here is the scan result for the first BATMAN movie (UK Blu-Ray)
ANY DVD HD or a similar program must be running , otherwise you do not get full results.

You can see that the French, German and Spanish Audio is Surround, on the contrary the Italian Audio is only Stereo.

Hope that helps

And I took you at your word that the software may be unreliable. It could be that my no votes were a tad premature. However that does not excuse Donnie's repeated (and ongoing) attacks on me. Everyone makes mistakes, but harrassing someone repeatedly, even after they agreed to revisit their votes, is just apalling and unforgivable behaviour.

As said in pms, your first reply to my civil pm was a sarcastic reply in which you made fun of me, but this has nothing to do with the Surround thread here.

You voted NO on all my contributions without even checking on them, if this is not abuse of voting, I dunno anymore what abuse is.
