Confirming a DVD's Region(s) |

| | Posted: | | | | I was changing a few details relating to a DVD to contribute these and noticed that a previous contributor had used DVD Decrypter to verify the DVD's Regions as 2 and 4. I've tried it myself and it's correct. However, the cover only says its Region 2. Is there an easy way to confirm the Regions for a DVD? Is it common for the cover to hide something like this or is DVD Decrypter prone to make mistakes? | | Posted: | | | | I've often found the cover to be incorrect, generally only stating the region code for the country the DVD is being sold in. Although I don't have players for all regions, I do have UK & US players and on contributions that cover those I always test them when different to the cover and have always found the changes to be correct. I'd imagine that the various software region checkers will also work assuming no firmware update to remove the region check. |

| | Posted: | | | | I've found regions 2 and 4 to be a very common combination. As they're both PAL and english-speaking regions the companies can sell the same disc in both territories in different packaging. As Formerly says, they tend only to print the region that's relevant for the country of sale.
I've never had a problem with it, but if you want to confirm DVD Decrypter then I believe IFOEdit and Nero InfoTool will also report the regions found on a disc. |

| | Posted: | | | | DVD Covers are often wrong or incomplete. The cover may list only a subset of available subtitles. This can be verified either by going through the menus, or DVD Decrypter. I think I will look to stick to what DVD Decrypter tells me, rather than just go with what the media company says.
