I think Ken said there would be a two week run of the 3.7 beta, then the app will be released along with the full 3.7 release......

No he didn't say that.  You got the two week beta cycle for 3.7 right.  But nowhere did he say that the iPhone / iPad app will be released with 3.7.  For all we know it will be submitted to Apple when 3.7 is released and then it would need to be approved by Apple which can take anywhere from a week or longer.  Maybe much longer if Apply doesn't approve it and changes are needed.

Hopefully the app is already approved and just waiting on Ken to push the button.  But until we hear otherwise, that's not a guarantee.

Unfortunately Ken just verified that the app has NOT been submitted for approval and won't be until 3.7 is released.  So I'd say to look for it towards the end of the month.  I'd guess around Thanksgiving.  Of course there are also rumors that the app store will be locked down for Thanksgiving.  So hopefully it can squeak in ahead of time or it will be the week after.

I wouldn't get your hopes up for a release within the next few weeks, the end of November or early December is much more likely. It wouldn't make much sense for Ken to submit the iPhone app prior to 3.7 exiting beta, and there's usually a two week wait for brand new apps to be reviewed by Apple.

I doubt very much DVDP does anything Apple is going to turn it down over, especially now given the new approval process. So we're looking at a 2 week beta run + 2 week approval process, and this is IF everything goes perfect.

Plus, there may be an even greater delay getting it approved because of the 4.2 iOS update coming out this month, I assume that's what Mark was talking about when he mentioned the store being locked down. Many apps are going to need to get updated, and more popular apps will get bumped to the front of the line, brand new apps will have to wait.

I've heard of apps being refused for the dumbest things.  One I recall got denied because one of their buttons looked too much like Apple's help button or something stupid.  I doubt Ken broke any rules and I expect it to pass.  Still, you never know.  Apple has denied other apps for some really trivial reasons.  To me anyway.

As for locking down the app store, I have no clue.  It's just an article I read last week.  It makes no sense, but if you read it, they did so last year during the Christmas holidays.  Not locked down to end users, just to developers as I understand it.

And that's a good point about 4.2 being released.  They're going to be busier than normal with lots of people submitting 4.2 updates.

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm expecting a December release.

I follow app store drama pretty closely and I have to agree... the 3.7 beta delay is going to be way longer than 2 weeks... especially since now we know the app wont be submitted to apple until after the beta is finalized. It is going to happen right during the rush for everyone to re-certify their apps for 4.2 and will take at least 2 weeks to get approved... I'll go ahead and get mid December.

Oh yeah I know, but a few weeks ago they modified the approval process, and lately it seems they're rejecting less and less apps for the dumb reasons they were rejecting them before. But I too, think we'll be waiting for December for this to come out.

Apple is doing an unusual additional shutdown of iTunes Connect this year, a report claims. The developer service typically closes down during the week of Christmas, preventing developers from having apps or app updates reviewed and posted to the App Store. Ranking charts also freeze, meaning that any changes in popularity go unreflected.

The extra shutdown is expected to take place the week of American Thanksgiving, in late November. Why it may be happening is unknown, but it's speculated that Apple may want to use the time migrate the iTunes service to new servers, where it can test and ultimately deploy some form of streaming technology. The company is known to be finishing off an unusually large data center in North Carolina which will begin operations by the end of the year.

Multiple shutdowns could cause havoc for developers, not only terms of schedules but income. Both Thanksgiving and Christmas are normally busy periods for the App Store, and apps not already on the top charts before an iTunes Connect shutdown forego the corresponding exposure. Developers may have to accelerate their work and marketing efforts this year to keep revenue flowing.

This sounds more Realistic to me!  I was also thinking this.  He's already blew threw his Late Oct Release Date!!!  These last 2 months can really be busy months, and you think you'll have it done by such and such and before you know it, it's a new year.    If it comes before then, GREAT, I'll be even happier, but It's been over 4 years now since the Iphone was first released!!!  From the Rumors of being worked on until now has been so  SSSSLLLLOOOOOWWWWWWWW.    Hey Android users, you might have a 4 year wait yourself.  WM7 users, Who knows.  Having 1 person do all these Different versions is going to bring everything to a even slower Crawl if that's even possible.

Yeah Mark I agree that story was apparently BS, I should have updated the post. Thanks for posting that. Maybe we might have Profiler before the end of Nov. (hope, hope, hope).
