| | Posted: | | | | Installation goes, but when I try to restore 2300+ DVDs (from XP) it fails every time. I tried to run in XP-mode, as administrator etc.
Any hints anyone?

Highly likely that this is not caused by Win7 64 Bit.
This combination is running on my machine without any problems.
It would help to know if there's an error message and what it says.
Also it would be good to know if you have any differences to the default setup (location of database, installation path of program, moved "Documents"-folder after installation of DVDPro, ... etc.)
A good starting point would be to assume that the backup file is corrupted. So if you still have access to your old installation make a new backup, but perform a database repair first. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!

I have the Windows 7 Ultimate edition, it has both Professional 32 and 64 bit versions. I made the switch to 64 bit running Profiler 3.7.0 Build 1419, 14,468 profiles, no problem. I have added almost a 100 profile and modified countless others, no problem. I just use the basic Profiler down load, plug-ins, etc. The only exception is the layout, a modified version Greil1. First, I made sure had all the Microsoft updates and all the others programs that have 64bit versions updated. Before you try the profiler or before the restore, referencehave you tried running C:\Program Files (v86)\DVD Profiler\DVDProDBRepair,exe | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own.

Restore does cover scans and after that Windows just informs that program have stopped execution.
What else Win7 Ultimate 64-bit (all updates in), i7 Intel 4 core, 12Gb memory, 1Tb mirrored, F-Secure 2010 (Deep Guard off)

Is your OnlineList (not Online Collection) up to date? Refresh it via DVDProfiler menu "Online -> Refresh Online Profile List ..." and try to restore then.
If you have the backup stored on an USB-device, what happens if you move it to a local HDD and try to restore from there?
EDIT: Can you download your Online Collection via DVDProfiler menu "Online -> DVDProfiler Online..."? | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!

I managed to restore all profiles with putting sort order (in empty DB) to same as it was when backed up (purchase date).
But Now I can't add there any DVD's. It just stucks, no error messages etc. Also if I try to change sort order it stucks

Read ahead. I managed to restore, but now I think there is somekind DB problem which repair doesn't fix

| | Posted: | | | | My wife and I just picked up a New laptop with home premium Win 7 and 64bit OS on this HP . Since I am still running the 3.6 profiler on the family PC. I decided to run and install the Beta 3.7 on the laptop. Logged in / transfered over the install files for 3.7,/ then reloaded my library from the web site only., then realizing that all my scans were not there and all had to be refreshed .. I then backed up my profiler 3.6 (family PC) onto a 4GB flash memory stick and then reloaded all of that onto the 3.7 with an automatic over ride of the laptop profiler 3.7 .. I decided to not go with Norton virus out of the Box, and instead installed Microsoft Essentials earlier in the evening before this Invelos Install .. My installs on a new PC is always Virus program first, Then Office,, Then Browser ( google chrome), Then Profiler, then Picassa ...  (plus all updates..) all is well and sweet  ..... No adminstrative questions and everything went fairly quick and troublefree on the Install of the 3.7 beta ..  Thanks Ken! | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Something was broken in DB, but some how it worked in XP. I ran all thumbnails etc. repair programs through.
And another thing, I had to give full rights to every one in Database folder. Even when running dvdpro.exe as administrator. I have F-Secure 2010, could that be the troublemaker?

A network located file created in a Win7 environment is usually not accessible by other machines unless you explicitly allow this. Depending on your network structure this might even mean that you'd have to give the rights to every single user seperately. F-Secure might have been the culprit for corrupting your backup though. Some antivirus software is (for what reason ever) changing the checksums of some archive types. In some cases this will result in the corruption of this archive.
