| | Posted: | | | | I recently saw someone adding a birth year to the well-known American actress Elizabeth Banks, citing a British actress with the same name as the reason. However, that's only valid if the common name of that British actress is indeed Elizabeth Banks. But instead, her common name at this time is Liz Banks, meaning we distinguish between them by using their common names instead of by birth year. As of yet, the British Ms. Banks appears only five times in our database: LIZ BANKS ( 3 confirmed credits): - Bad Girls: Series Seven (ep. #12) (confirmed by T!M) - Blue Murder (ep. Then please provide documentation to support this assertion Better yet: why don't you provide documentation to support your assumption that she's not! You know as well as I do that it's hard extremely to prove things like this when we're not talking about major stars. But all the signs point towards this being the same Liz Banks: it's a British actress, it's smallish British TV-show, the credit falls in a period that she's still active, and in a period where she's doing similar smallish TV-roles. Also, the IMDb-page you've referred to shows that she's exclusively going by "Liz" the last few years. Again: all signs point in this direction. You, on the other hand, have nothing substantial to claim that it isn't the same Liz Banks - just the fact that her IMDb-page omits the credit because nobody got around to adding the full cast for that season of 'Blue Murder' yet. |

| | Posted: | | | | No, I added the IMDb-link as a reference. As a reference, IMDb is helpful, but generally, we try to make our data a little bit better than the mess that is IMDb. This is an attempt at doing just that. As always, though, correcting IMDb-errors here tends to get some people annoyed, and this seems to be no different.  Look, you know you're in the wrong. If necessary, I'll track down a copy of 'Blue Murder', I'll visually confirm that it's the same Liz Banks, and that'll be the end of it. There's really no reason to get so upset - I'm sure you'll agree that the outcome is actually pretty nice, since it means we won't have to add a birth year to nearly a thousand of Elizabeth Banks' profiles... Please not Tim's indecisiveness on this issue I'd like to see the 'Blue Murder' and 'Vincent' credits confirmed, that's all. I don't doubt them, but I'd still like to see them confirmed as "Liz".
