Please specify somewhere that it is StudioCanal, not Studio Canal.

from a recent post on the 'other' site....

1. It is StudioCanal, not Studio canal.

2. Regarding R1 discs : when there is a copyright StudioCanal Image or canal+ Image, you may find a StudioCanal logo when movie launchs. Even though, StudioCanal should not appear in the DVDprofiler Studios field. These copyrights and the opening logo only mean the film belongs to StudioCanal. It's a catalogue title, but StudioCanal isn't the original theatrical release studio, nor the production company, nor the DVD distribution studio.

3. When the copyright is only StudioCanal (without Image), it means StudioCanal is the movie production company (applicable for recent titles only).

4. Regarding French R2 discs : there used to be two DVD production companies : StudioCanal Vidéo (EDV 29) and StudioCanal (EDV 384). Now there's only one (EDV 1392) and I've seen DVD releases with this CNC code refering sometimes to StudioCanal and sometimes to StudioCanal Vidéo

and from some research I did last year also on the 'other' forum....

In the database the majority of dvds use the name Studio Canal - ie 2 words with a space in-between. However I have not been able to find any of my dvds, disc content and covers, that are spelt this way.
All mine appear to list the name as StudioCanal - ie one word without a space.
Having now checked the companies own website and the naming history, it appears the name has never been Studio Canal, it should be used as StudioCanal, not spaced, for all films they are involved in from 2000.
Now I'm not a pedantic person, so am not advocating all the many many titles that may have the studio spelt incorrectly should be changed. However I wonder if everyone concurs that we should use the correct title for all new contributions?
STUDIOCANAL LINK

CANAL+ created CANAL+ Production
1990: CANAL+ Production became LE STUDIO CANAL+ and went into partnership with CAROLCO in the United States.
1992: CANAL+ created CANAL+ DA
1994: CANAL+ DA expanded its catalogue
1996: CANAL + acquired UGC DA,  while LE STUDIO CANAL+ purchased the CAROLCO catalogue
1999: LE STUDIO CANAL+ joined forces with UNIVERSAL PICTURES to co-finance and distribute the WORKING TITLE films
2000: LE STUDIO CANAL+ and CANAL+ DA merged to create STUDIOCANAL

That research seems to demonstrate that the space is dependent upon the date, doesn't it?

IMO the research shows no evidence of the company ever using studio canal (with a space) except on their copyright logo at the bottom of the company page.

From dvd credits, covers and information from their company history above, it seems to indicate the following are acceptable credits dependent on year...

Canal+                for years pre 1990
Le Studio Canal+  1990-2000
Canal+ DA          1992-2000
StudioCanal        2000 onwards

Could you change the Walt Disney Productions 'excepted' films on the studio list please James, and add Herbie Rides Again. I tried to remove the production company during an update, but Skip voted no and assures me it is in the end credits. I can't check this as I am at work but I am happy to take his word for it.
Thanks
Richard

For the record, and it took me some looking to find the information...

The proper names are:
Lions Gate Films
Lions Gate Home Entertainment

See the Lions Gate 'Annual Report' here.  If you enter the report and click on 'Motion Pictures' or 'Home Entertainment' the proper names are listed there...how's that for documentation?

Nice find Unicus.

In my database I have those 2, but also Lionsgate, Lions Gate, Lionsgate Entertainment, Lions Gate Television.

Are we conclusively saying all 4 of these 'alternatives' are unacceptable?

5 Days To Midnight records a "Lions Gate Entertainment" presents a Lions Gate Television" production

Muhammed Ali: King Of The World is credited Lions Gate Television Inc.

Crank appears to be credited with just LionsGate, in partnership with Lakeshore Entertainment

Lions Gate Entertainment is the parent company.  Under that they have Lions Gate Films, Lions Gate Television, Lions Gate Home Entertainemt and Lions Gate Family Entertainment.

There should not be any credits with Lionsgate as a single word or Lion's Gate, with Lion having the possesive.

Lions Gate, on it's own, is possible, depending on the credit but I personally don't like it.

I am not 100% of that.  After going through their site.  The ! only seems to be used in their logo.  All the text on the site refers to them as THINKFilm

Can't we do the logo? It's really easy to do and looks nice

Seriously though, I will check some DVD credits later as I seem to recall seeing them credited onscreen the same way as the logo, and I also have a vague memory of their website showing different variants on different pages when I was doing profiles last year so I think maybe they have standardised recently. Just looked at a few back covers in the meantime and can see THINKFILM and also "© MMV Thinkfilm" on a couple of DVDs (e.g. 'Assassination of Richard Nixon' and 'Primer'), as well as the logo version

10th & Wolf and Tideland for examples have the logo TH!NKFilm
The actual credit though appears to be THINKFILM

"© MMV Thinkfilm" you're right SG I saw this on their copyright also.

What do we use?
How it is credited - THINKFilm
From an occasional logo and website - TH!NKFilm
From the copyright - Thinkfilm

Is this covered in the rules in any way?
