They  have always been against the rules... this is nothing new. See Ken's statement...

And for the record when I said we... I didn't say you. Was never speaking for you. I meant those of us that only know the one language and has no need for these sites/trailers. Do you think I am the only one?

And once again... this has always been the rule... I was just double checking I understood it correctly.

As for you loosing links you don't have to... Just use "My Links" in the program itself... you just can't contribute them to the online... just like anything else that goes against the site rules.

Well, yes - and no...

I'm not allowed to submit a foreign trailer via Title/Production Year - but still I'm allowed to add it directly to the profile...

Well, I know two languages - but still I like to watch trailers in many others.
It just seemed to me, you were generalizing people only want to watch what they can understand.

I was neither feeling insulted, nor was trying to insult you.

I know - and I do. But I use the Online Profile Links as a starting point.

I'm still not sure, if they're really against the rules.

I submit all links I manually add via DVD Profiler and I don't know how these submissions are handled...

The ones submitted through "My Links" in the program itself?? Ken can correct me if I am wrong... but I think they automatically are set to That Profile Only.

But what you will have to watch... is if  lets say you import a region 1 title of a US or Canadian film... you can't submit to the online a German (or any Language other then our languages) trailer or site. That would put a German trailer/Site to our profile which would be against the rules.

Well, OK - how do I do this when submitting via DVD Profiler itself?

Immediately under the spot to place the link are two options;

Link to: ?Title and Production Year  ?This Profile Only

The first is selected by default.

Yes, I was talking about those submissions.

Read the bold. If I have the same DVD as you, I am allowed to add foreign links to this exact profile.
What I am not allowed to, is adding foreign links to this movie in general via Title/Production Year.

To be honest, the opposite way would be more reasonable to me - a foreign trailer still belongs to a movie, but not to this particular release...

No... you are mis-ready Ken's rule...

Quote:

So this means for a US Film on a region 1 US Locality release... you can only submit English trailers/Links.

So say you have the TV Series Bones (what I am watching right now)...

If you have the German release (where the "for others" rule comes in)... you can submit German links/trailers.

If you have the R1 US release... only English links/trailers are allowed.

Yes, I've read this part too. But I'm not talking about adding links via 'Title/Production Year'.
But there's no exceptions mentioned what I can submit to a specific profile.

So going the way with a German trailer, US content, US profile:

First to check: Does the German trailer match the US content? No. -> Don't submit via Title/Production Year.

Do I have to check against the profile's locality? Not mentioned in the rules!

Instead the rule says: 'Others' (ergo everything that doesn't match the content) has to be submitted via "This Profile Only".

So going by the rule I'm allowed to submit the foreign link directly to the profile.

It seems to me you are reading this into the rule (and I admit that's probably what Ken intended):
Quote:
For links which match the locality of the original content, submit via Title/Production Year. For other links which match the locality of the profile, submit via "This Profile Only". If a link does not match neither original content nor locality, don't submit at all.

And I will also admit, this would be the most logical solution.

Katatonia just gave 3 sites that are completely gone.

Those have all been removed.  I was asking for other completely dead sites.

There was one called en.dtrailer.com (Trailers) that may still have some links in profiles. That site has been dead for quite some time.

www.trailerunleashed.com (Trailers) is dead.

www.dvdcult.com (review site) is dead.

www.50footdvd.com (review site) is dead.

www.monstersatplay.com (review site) has been dead for a while now.

www.eccentric-cinema.com (review site) is R.I.P. Evidence here.

www.chud.com (review site) is dead.

www.DVDfile.com (review site) now just redirects to the comingsoon.net homepage, so they can all be removed as invalid.

www.dvdauthority.com (review site) now also just redirects to the blurayauthority.com homepage, so they can all be removed as invalid.

www.dvdinmypants.com (review site) is dead, and now redirects to a bogus malware webpage.

www.dvdoutsider.co.uk (review site) is long dead.

Seeing so much wrong language stuff in these profiles and such... makes me wish we could vote on link contributions just like we do on profile contributions. Going through these links is so aggravating.

LOL... an official page for a movie... now leads to what looks like a porn site. While hard to tell for sure what exactly it is as it is a foreign site... definitely not for the Jennifer Aniston movie any longer!
