Shouldn't there be one more option? The Witch: A New-England Folktale.

I'm with Kathy on this one. So I can't vote.

How can it be The Witch when there is no W on the front cover? The rules specifically say that the title should match the cover which, in this case, clearly spells the main word VVitch.

One might argue that the spacing is much smaller between "VV" and the other letters in the title!

But seriously, locally I would NEVER use a double V in this title. My collection is alphabetized and I would never think to look for this movie under "V".

My collection is also alphabetised and this is filed under "W", but it's more a question of what the title should be for the profile.

Additionally, the US Blu-ray release (UPC 031398227861) has the title The VVitch with the longer title in the Original title field. I'm asking because I want to change the title on the UK release from The Witch to match the cover.

Going by the cover you showed... The Witch is not on the cover.

Which is why I have contributed a change from The Witch to The VVitch: A New-England Folktale to match the cover. There was one 'no' vote, but that now gone.

My comment about filing this under "W' is about personal preference, but I want the title to match the cover in my database and the DVD Profiler database.

I just misread your previous post. Thought you said you were changing it to The Witch. Sorry about that.

That's why I would assign a sort title "Witch". This is enough to sort it under W and to find it when typing Wit...

As the search looks at sort titles as well as assigned titles, it isn't a problem if it does have the VVitch title and sorted under "W". Like you said, entering "wit" in the search box would locate it if it has the sort title "The Witch".

Still no W on the front cover...so per rules must be...

The VVitch: A New-England Folktale

That is a stylized "W" that you are seeing, and not two "V"s.  Just check out the history of the letter "W".

It does not matter what the VV represents. No different then..

- Thir13en Ghosts
- Fant4stic
- T4XI

Or any other stylized typing of the title. We take the title from the front cover as it is on the front cover. If it can be typed on a standard keyboard that is what we use. And the history of the letter means absolutely nothing... . not when it comes to what we contribute to the online database.

I completely agree. Some releases of the David Fincher film Seven are stylised with the title entered as Se7en without any issues.

If he added ": A New-England Folktale" to "The Witch", as he did with "The VVitch", it would have been the winner.

Stylized W, no question.

If it does not represent two "V"s then why would you want to use two "V"s in your contribution?

The Witch.  That was easy, and with a "standard keyboard" too.
