Facts which I learned over the years:
- Any headshot is resized for displaying (enlarged and shrinked)
- and yes, the headshot are stored 300*400 pixels, which is the maximum size for displey either.
- Any larger headshot dropped onto DVDP is resized to this size.
- There is a bug in the graphics library, which resizes to 301*401 pixels sometimes
- There is a bug in the graphics library, which adds black borders to right and bottom - most probably the same bug...
- copying and pasting from/to DVD Profiler reduces quality, and is prone to lose pixel lines or columns - most probably the same bug...

AiAustria thanks for the update! will finish loading the rest of the 'extra' files later tonight.

At first was thinking of loading the split DB files to do a 'compare' import, as I like to keep older cast pics of when actors were at their peak, not the latest pictures of them, but soon realized this process was going to take lots of time, so I went ahead and loaded/imported the FULL V.11 instead, and will replace the few Head Shots as I come across later, maybe I should've done a "leave existing' import, but too late now..

But while spot checking the collection's update, I found two Headshots of Michael Madsen, the new image has the BY but only lists one movie profile, the old one, older pic without BY but listing 11 profiles, but missing the profile listed with the upgraded HeadShot ( The Natural).

Any ideas how to merge this two profiles or any others I may find? I did do a backup before the upgrade just in case I need to go back, and run a "repair" before updating again , but hope there is a simpler way to do this.

In fact the BY for Michael Madsen is needed as documented here. Therefore the headshot without the BY is invalid and you have to replace the cast entry in profile with the correct entry.

Remarks:
- There are tons of errors, mistakes and flaws in the headshot database. Nobody can clean up such a big mess alone. Everytime I stumble across an obvious mistake, I correct it an contribute another correction headshot (see the posts 2ff in this thread). Today Michael Madsen got included...
- Many of the problems arouse from BYs; they were defined over the years and still get more and more. Each new documentation invalids existing headshots... All the BY documentations are collected here - thanks to Kluge...
- Common names are the other big pain in the ... - you find the link to the collection in my sig....

Thanks for the tip, first time ever messing with the cast listings, By updating the profile, half of my profiles of Michael Madsen were fixed, but had to manually change/replace cast profiles that are not using the correct Michael Madsen 1957 profile on DB, like for Donnie Brasco, Sin City, Kill Bill 1&2, and I think 'Kill me again' too, I tried to contribute the corrections to the Db, but apparently I'm doing something wrong and the entry appears as 'incomplete' under 'my contributions', I'm trying to understand how this process works, but I see is quite a time consuming learning curve...

Yep, I can see how complicated it can get, when having such detailed entries, with constant updates and changes, kudos  to you for having the patience to sort through all those thousands of headshots!

I found a couple of head shots errors you might include in your next update, both Jack Black(King Kong -2005) and Thomas Mitchell(gone with the wind) are using the wrong image, unless it was fixed in the other updates in this thread that I'm yet to install and the size of my backup just increased to 1.5 gigs...

Hell no, I did never walk through all 100.000 headshots manually. It was enough work to collect and compare all existing sources. But the headshots I added or corrected are already "thousands" too

This is the thread were to discuss such issues. But to have a base to discuss on, screen shots would be very helpful. Although most of the picture are gone, you can reference the Headshots v10 Thread as an example...

Or anyone else who contributes headshots...

Both of them need BYs either. As far as I can see, the headshots were correct in v11.

The main headshot file of v11 had about 1.2G, they have to go somewhere

I went back and checked and both those profiles had the BY cast profile updated here in the DB, but apparently my collection's profiles did not properly replace updated entries to the latest version, I don't know why, since I updated both the images/profile for all profiles in my collection before loading your V.11 headshots, I guess I'll find some other cast members with 2 profiles in the future (with and without BY), I'll just fix them as I find them, now that I know how to (thanks to you)in the cast section and leave good enough along. I think this biz of the BY addition is creating a mess for me as they were not  integrated properly during the last Profile update. many of my profiles do not have BY listed.

Can you tell me the Pros and cons of running the DB script mentioned in this thread earlier used to remove 'Headshots' from the collection not used by my profiles?

There is only one pro: if you have a small collection, you can save much space on your harddisk and, at least on physical harddisks (instead of SSDs) the database searches speed up.

The cons:
- When new profiles creep in, you may miss headshots, which were already in the database.
- The automatisms when importing BYs are rather annoying, which makes me to add even fake entries in the cast/crew list to prevent DVDProfiler from guessing BYs. Removing cast/crew entries (with or without headshots) worsens this process
- When (re)importing headshots you don't get questioned which headshot to use (any headshot, no matter how bad or wrong it is, overwrites a non existing headshot).
- If you take care of common names and/or BYs, there will be illegal cast/crew entries, which are marked with headshots telling so (post 2ff in this thread). Removing this headshots cuts you off from getting this "warnings"...

Some new headshots, many of them corrections and additions out of the latest documented BYs and common names...

Headshots Only

This files includes headshots, which imho are better than the ones included in v11. Why?
- better cropping (head only, but the whole head including most of the hair)
- better contrast (mostly less technical contrast which allows to recognize detail of the face)
- less makeup or role specific applications
- as naked as possible (no shades, no beards, no hats, etc.; but glasses if needed)
- shorter hair, to see the ears and the hairline
- correct birth years (dummies for headshots not availlable, BY overlayed where no other BY needed in the same section - cast/crew)
- correct common names (common name overlayed where common name thread is conclusive)

Amongst many well documented BYs there are fake BYs are included.

For all who are interested in the history of my headshots or the included fake BYs, the above file with the profile included:
Headshots and Profile (includes the source documentation  - WARNING: if you restore this file with default options, your data base will be deleted!)

Any feedback welcome...

AiAustria, My PC had been acting up, so late Thank Yous for your tip to load all updates and better to keep them all, I went ahead and loaded all your DBs except for your 12/8/18- Invalid/valid BY files, right now I don't understand exactly the install process instructions. I'll give it another read-over later on when my head is clear; I've been fixing all your 'dummy's' etc...Thanks again.
