Any chance of getting the regions (A, B, C) for Blu-ray added to the program?

I'd still like to see region coding support added for Blu-ray.  Preferrably before the next beta 3.1.1 is finalized.

The regions for Blu-ray discs are A, B, C, or ABC.

A - North America, Central America, South America, Koreas, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.
B - Europe, Greenland, French territories, Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
C - India, Nepal, Mainland China, Russia, Central and South Asia.

Doesn't that correspond roughly to where NTSC, PAL and SECAM are predominant?

SECAM is French so no. Also I don't believe HD discs are coded PAL/NTSC, its just HD. Which is why dvdprofiler now doesn't allow you to select either PAL or NTSC.

But, wouldn't the SD features still be NTSC or PAL?

This is in a FAQ at tbe official Blu-ray site...

How does Blu-ray Disc region coding work?

Contrary to DVD, the Blu-ray Disc region coding system divides the world into only 3 regions, called regions A, B and C. The usage of region coding on a Blu-ray Disc movie title is a publisher's option. A Blu-ray Disc player will play any movie title that does not have region coding applied, plus all titles of its corresponding region.

Region A:

- North America
- Central America
- South America
- Korea
- Japan
- South East Asia

Region B:

- Europe
- Middle East
- Africa
- Australia
- New Zealand

Region C:

- Russia
- India
- China
- Rest of World

It's good to see that RC is optional, not mandatory.
Signature banned: Reason out of date...
