So only good thing I can say about Apple policies is that that they will lead to their death. When people learn that George Orwell was describing the Apple world...

Sigh. This is the problem. You can't have these discussions without Android fanboys coming out of the woodwork to pollute the discussion with their rabid comments.

Spoken like a true Apple fanboy...

Your comments clearly indicate that you are not a developer, just a fanboy.

No I'm not... Since I've only had my Android device for nine days... And developed for Pocket PC since 2001 and Android since late last year... So nice try Apple fanboy...

So if you call people than can see the errors in Apples products for Android fanboys then my best friend is a Android fanboy without having an Android device and by his own account never will.

With all the FUD in your post I was going to ask if you were an Apple Fanboi or just read too many articles from others who do not know any better?

Yeah, sure. And your best friend's uncle's neighbour's cousin's housecat hates Android and would never own one.

That's it for me. Your pronouncements, sir, are what is commonly called "champagne comedy".

How can it be FUD? Number one I don't sell any Android anything. Number two no associated with Google in any way. And so on...

And I'm not a fanboy in any way. Be that iOS, Android, WinMo, Bada, Symbian or any other mobile device OS. I can see problems in any platform. But iOS has so many problems the way I see it. Had the iPhone 1 for three weeks and was fed up with Apple deciding what I could use my device for and bought a WinMo and made the programs I needed and downloaded the rest on my device.

another vote for Android.  After years of being a WinMo users, I too see the light!  LOL!

I hate to throw away all the effort and expense I put into DVD Profiler, out the window.

Not really sure it adds anything to the conversation but i vote +1 for Android app
Regarding some concerns raised to the various vendor/hardware, i would assume a very very light version of DVDP (a kind of read-only version + barcode scanner) could possibly come quite quickly don't you think ?
But well, i'm no developper so maybe i'm too optimistic

Anyway, i would kill for an Android app

Wouldn't mind an Android version as well.
So vote +1, and hope barcode scanner functionality will be added to this version as well....

So, been a while since I checked back here, and it's nice to see an iPhone version out and running

(Aimed at the developer's)

Anymore new on the development of the Android version?, without me having to read throug this huge thread

I remember there were some pics put up of your Android bookwork, just wondered how the development side of things are coming along

I too am keen to know if there will be a android version release
I have bought DVD profiler for my pc and also bought the Iphone App so that I can use my database on the go, I love DVD profiler and praise it to everyone i meet.
But my best mate is currently looking to catalogue his collection and naturally i suggested DVD profiler, but he has a HTC desire phone and uses Android, and from what I can see you don't have an app for android?
He is also looking at My movies application as it is on Android, and I was telling him to go with DVD profiler over that.
Just wondering what the status is re: android.
What is the difference between my movies and dvd profiler?

I don't know whether that has been said or not but why you don't write a better "online collection" so the application will be compatible with every OS out there. I think it could be a nice added value to the main application and it's not much of an effort to realize. I mean, a touch screen friendly web page with a little of search capabilities would do the trick nicely. On my account I have just bought an Archos 101 and using my cell phone to browse my collection now is pissing my off a bit with the lousy windows mobile 6.1 and its microscopic screen.

Online is great until you are in middle of a big warehouse store and have no signal to the internet on your phone.  Kinda defeats the purpose of having your collection with you.

Heh!, I thought that only happened in Spain. It's nice to know we are not so different

In any case, I think it would be of real help to know an estimated release date (month?, year?) for the Android version. I am checking the forum day after day in the hope of some good news, just knowing that it would take till Maya's Doomsday would save me a lot of time

Best regards

It would be nice if they at least acknowledged the fact that we are asking for the app.  I thought they had one I finally got my android today and this was my FIRST stop and saw that i was not going to be able to use my favorite program to keep track of my DVD's  I had a PDA for the longest time and gave up on them making a good one that was integrated with cells seamlessly and got a droid.  I knew there was an apple app but, and at a risk of being flamed dislike apple iXXX for a great many reasons.  Yes I have used it, Yes I know the arguments for and against but wish to not delve into it.  sufficed to say +1 for the android app.  If there is some need for development funds I am willing to pony up a prerelease preorder payment so that I can have first crack at the beta.  I am an accomplished alpha/beta tester so...
