Does it have to be the official film site? Only very recent films will have an official website. On some non-English language films, I've seen contribution notes citing the enclosed booklet for the translated credits.

No, it doesn't have to be, that's just what I came up with off the top of my head.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I just uploaded a contribution where the credits were in a separate bonus-type section on the DVD, but not in the actual TV-series credits. I put this in the contribution notes, we'll see what happens.

I've encountered and submitted credits like that as well in the past. They were accepted. Same thing for credits that were in an enclosed booklet instead of on disc. Of course in my contribution notes I stated very clearly where the credits came from.

Thanks, Martian, for your constructive proposal!
As far as I can see, all we need to do is modify it to include all "official" sources: official film site, DVD inlay or booklet, separate credits section on disc - anything else?

And if they differ?

How do you verify the information once the "official" site is gone?

Is a national distributor's website considered an official site?

Sorry, I just don't see how this is going to work in the long run...

I would say- but that's just me - that information coming from the filmmakers themselves prevails over info from a distribution company, especially if the distribution company is not in the film's CoO.

I would consider the filmmakers the most authoritative source under any circumstance.

For websites that go off-line there's always this.

So my assessment is different: I CAN see this working, and it already IS working (just look at the entries in the DVDP database for Spooks, or MI-5 as it's called across the pond).

So, funny little fact.

There actually ARE credits for the film.

They come up at the very VERY end of the running time of the film, and are up for like... three seconds. I must have FFW through them on my previous attempts while looking for credits.

So the whole discussion in regards to THIS specific film... totally moot. The credits have been submitted and are pending approval at this very moment.

Whoops on my part!
The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.

I was just about to post the same thing as Merrik.  After the official end of the feature, the Blu-ray jumps to a few-seconds long clip that displays the credits.  It's not technically part of the movie but unless you noticed it happen, you would think it was part of it with just a long gap of nothing.

I have TV programmes on disc that for some reason they have removed the credits but when they are shown on TV there are credits is it permissible to contribute these or should the be kept local only

Where the Rules only mention the Film's Official Site... something from a TV Airing I would say to keep local only. Going by what the rules state I wouldn't do it.. and would vote no to such a thing at least.
