Once again there is an argument being picked with the CREATOR of this thread, James. I have explained the thinking and so forth. You are arguinbg over terms again. I define CORRECT Studio name as that that appears On Screen PERIOD. That has ALWAYS been my stand  and will always be nmy stand, I do not slip and slide like some do in order to cause trouble. My position is consistent, we have no provision which allows us to invent data from anywhere else. As you, well know the gradual move to to full As Credited was done to avoid causing problems with users screaming for another new Alias listing, at the time we had NO Alias listing, now we have one that works...kind of. It will takea long time, I fear, but those who just live to argue with me, let me again point out that I created it, i think I know what I was doing and the definition of CORRECT Studio Name is that that appears On Screen anything else is simply a bad interpretation and inconsistent with structure of every other Rule.

I agree in theory that studios should be "As Credited", however, distribution companies do not always appear "on screen".  Oftentimes, the only thing you have to go by is a logo on the back of the DVD cover.  Unfortunately, this leads to "interpretation".  I don't see any "good" answer for this particular problem.

That's a valid point with regard to Distribution Companies, though I have yet toi run into a problem myself, regarding interpretation, that doesn't mean there isn't something out there. I will admit i am bit annoyed a Lions Gate HE becoming Lionsgate.

As far as I can tell, you didn't mention this in this thread until about 24 hours ago; hence the discussion. If you've mentioned it before, I didn't read it or don't recall.

I generally don't follow studio discussions outside this thread. It's not normally one of my interests. The only reason I took up maintenance of this list was because I saw it as integral to the rules, and Skip didn't want to maintain it after the move from IVS. I asked you to do it, since you've shown an expertise in this area, yet you declined. So I offered to do it in order to maintain that section of the rules. Now I see that may have been a wasted effort.

Regardless, there's no point to this thread if we aren't required to enter correct studio names. I won't update the list further unless Ken gives us a directive to use correct studio names.

You are correct, prior to that post, I had never mentioned it in this thread.  The reason for that was the fact that nobody ever said it was required by the rules.

The last time this came up was in a discussion, about a specific studio name, back in June.

I didn't realize there was another way to read it.

Sorry. "Cine Grande Corporation  aka Muraglia/Sladek Films" never grabbed my attention as a hot topic.

Yea, it sure was an obscure thread for the topic to come up in.

Looking at the studio FUNimation...

Their full name appears to be FUNimation Entertainment, Ltd.

So we should use FUNimation Entertainment

From the FUNimation website they use just "FUNimation" to refer to everything...

FUNimation Entertainment Logo on the front and back of the case. FUNimation Entertainment on splash screen before the menu, "English Reversioned by FUNimation Entertainment" in the end credits.

FUNimation by its' self is not found any place on the package or on the disc.

FUNimation Production appears on the back of the box as the licence holder, but that's not the studio name.

Entertainment is how they (and their parent company at http://www.navarre.com/FUNimation) market themselves.  However, I cannot find any official listing that way, only the pre-acquisition listings under Productions (previously deemed incorrect) or Studios.  As a preference, I would rather use Entertainment, at least in the 2005 or later titles.

Universal Studios Family Productions (Appears on Bring it on 3 and 4)
Universal Home Entertainment Productions (Appears on Bring it on 2)

Are those real studio names?

They are new production arms created by Universal.  The first was created to develop family-friendly DVDs and other home programming.

The second, from what little I could find, seems to be their 'straight to DVD' production arm.

All recent releases are as FUNimation Entertainment only.  I have to do some research but if I remember correctly releases 4+ years old had both FUNimation Entertainment and FUNimation Productions listed, one as distributor and one as production for the dubs/subtitles.

Anime companies seem to be big on changing their credited name(s) as they add in-house production studios for dubs and subs.
