Do not abbreviate Studio names.

Removing the word "Cinema" is abbreviating the name, therefore against the rules.

Tim:

This is no different from other areas of the database where we do NOT insert fictional data that does not appear On Screen. No different at all.

WE use On Screen data. except as I iindicated.

Except it's not fictional, it's quite clearly verifiable from an official source.

It most certainly is FICTIIONAL, it does NOT appear On Screen. Verifiability has NOTHING to do with it. What appears ON SCREEN. Anything additional is fictional, imagined, hallucinated or whatever, we use FILM credits PERIOD.

No, we don't. As others have pointed out, this thread would be completely redundant if we did. Also, the rules take special care to tell us not to abbreviate and even tell us to use "correct names for studios". As so often, you're just presenting the way you choose to handle studios as the "correct" way of doing it, but in reality there's absolutely nothing in the rules that implies we enter studios "as credited", and quite rightly so, of course. Please stop presenting your preferences as fact. We don't simply enter studios "as credited", the rules tell us to use "correct names for studios".

Just exactly where do you get your expertise that gives the magical ability to determine what is and is not when neither of you had ANYTHING to do with the Rules, Tim. I have a basis to explain what it is, in point of fact this thread was even created by ME. You can squirm, you can argue all you like, but you are WRONG. As usual, the data does not appear ON Screen and is Incorrect to be enbterd in any other form.

The purpose of this thread is to provide correct studio names according to the current rules. We don't concern ourselves here with any rule proposals or suggestions which have been made but not implemented. 'As Credited' for studio names is not the rule. Under the current rules we use correct non-abbreviated studio names. I've updated the list accordingly.

You can squirm, you can argue all you like, but you are WRONG. As usual, I'm simply following the rules, while you're just following what you feel the rules should say. As you're doing time and time again, you're trying to present your personal preference as fact, but it is just that: your personal preference. As you like to tell others: of course you're absolutely free to do whatever you want locally, but for the online, we follow the rules. You're welcome to squirm and argue some more, but that's all there is to it:

As you well know, I am the biggest supporter of 'as credited' for studios.  Unfortunately, the rules do not back me up on this.  I wish they did, and I did lobby for it back at the old rules forums, but Ken did not bite.  I am not happy about it, but the rule is the rule and the rules says "correct names for studios".

I am insulted at your ability to pretend you know more than you do, which is NOTHING. You can state your opinion but you cannot state ANYTHING regarding as fact since you had absolutely NO INVOLVEMENT in them at ANY level.  R epeat, Tim when it com,e to the Rules your knopwledge is non-existent.

FICTIONAL data, which is data which doies NOT apeeare On Screen has NO PLACE and goes against what the intent was, which has been explained repeatedly.

You have single-handedly caused much damage ( I daresay moire than any other user) to the Rules the last year, Tim.

I'll repeat that you can squirm and argue all you like, but it doesn't change the fact that your are dead wrong. Your endlessly repeated "involvement" doesn't impress me at all when your personal preference is in direct conflict with the actual rules. You can keep referring to your "involvement" until you're blue in the face - and you probably will - but in the end it's about what's actually in the rules. Your preferences as they were then, or as they are now, have nothing to do with it.

It's very simple: I'm following the rules and you're not. IMHO, all this shouting about how I know NOTHING makes you look pretty pathetic, especially since I've got the actual rules to back me up, along with various other users. You, on the other hand, have absolutely NOTHING, which is no surprise, as you're simply expressing a personal preference. As usual, you're so blinded by the set of rules stuck in your own head, that you're unable to see what's really in the ACTUAL rules.

I most certainly have not - I've just proven you wrong on a number of your incorrect interpretations of them. Judging by your remark, I've succeeded in doing so, and I must say that pleases me no end.

Ida, whoops I mean I'd, uh, also like to back Tim up on this one. Apart from the ridiculous, false, and somewhat hypocritical hyperbole of what you are TRYING to say, my response to what you have actually written is that Ken is the only one who can do ANYTHING to the rules.

You also have no basis for knowledge, not even third hand, let alone first hand. But since you seem to have become Ken's spokesman of late. Or think you have.

Because at the request of some users we have begun moving in the direction of On Screen data (As Credited)...not entirely and the changeover will be slow, due to the simple fact that users would immediately begin clamnmoring for another Alias list for Studios. This one should remain AS CREDITED, as is true with MOST Production studios since they are generally not well identified and have a small ctalog of film. The only area we don't use As Credited and NEVER have is for the MAJOR film studios, again simply to avoid the clamor for an Alias list, right now, particularly since the other Alias doesn't function all that well.

This is the first time I hear this. It is in clear contradiction to the rules.

Who are these users? When was that request made? Who has decided on that request?
