The Possible invalid BYs tag has been extensively updated. BirthYearCheck 4.0 is gobsmacking good, like a hot knife through butter, one can quickly run the gauntlet of splicing or slicing birth years in a precise and confident manner. Another gun tool to be carried in my DVDP holster - many thanks. |

| Posted: | | | | Glad you like it, ObiKen. I have to admit that I was a little shocked at the number of hits in my collection. I think I'll have to update the program with links to the birthyear thread in order to make it easier to research the birth years. | Posted: | | | | A small update to BirthYearCheck: I styled the datagrid a bit to make the selected row look better, and I added a context menu with links to the documentation in the birthyear thread, and to IMDb. You can select if you want to IMDb search to be opened in the internal browser, or in your default browser. Note that in the internal browser I skip one step when a title has been selected. I go directly to the Full Cast and Crew page. So that's one click less than in the standard browser. Get version 4.1.0 here. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | BirthYearCheck 4.2.1The following has been changed: - There may be more than one documentation post in the birth year thread for a specific person. When you select Documentation in Possible invalid BYs, you will be prompted which link to follow, if there is more than one. - When selecting Search title in IMDb, the search will be made with the Original Title if there is one. - It is now possible to Exclude profiles so they don't show up in subsequent runs of the program. This is useful for entries that are in fact correct, like birth year 1797 for Mary Shelley. And the help file has been updated. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | I started down the path on my subplugin CCCreator, and it has been fun, but I wonder if too much overlap with BY Check. If I get it done, I will gladly retrofit any of the guts into HTTPJolie if you want to consolidate the UI into your tool. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. | Posted: | | | | BirthYearCheck 4.3Several minor fixes and enhancement. A few a bit more important: - For profiles that contain episode dividers, the episode(s) that the person appeared in / worked on will be shown as a tooltip, so it is easier to find the person in a potentially very long cast or crew list. - Crew is now listed as their function rather than just "Crew". Again to make them easier to find. - Profiles can be hidden. Practical if you have a profile that you don't want to fix right now, but want to come back to at a later time. - When you exclude a profile it is also hidden. - You can "unhide" hidden profiles. This will make all hidden profiles visible again. When visible again, profiles that were excluded during this run can be "unexcluded". | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | I was wrong!
Yeah, it happens. In this case I thought that birth year later than production year was an undeniable fact that something is wrong. So there would be no need to ever exclude such a profile. But as I found out when using the program, that's not always true.
Production year 1939, birth year 1966? Well, that has to be wrong, doesn't it? Actually, no. The profile in question was Mickey Mouse in Living Color 2. It's a collection of shorts with wildly varying production years, but for the profile only the oldest is used. The short "The Prince and the Pauper" is from 1990.
I guess this could happen for TV shows as well. Someone who wasn't born when the show first started could be in a later season. Not very likely, but possible.
I didn't want to rush out an update for just such a minor oversight, but rest assured it is on my to-do list. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | BirthYearCheck 4.4As promised, I have fixed so you can exclude profiles with BirthYear after Production Year, as explained in the previous post. I have also added two more items in the context menu for Possible invalid BYs: - Show contribution notes. - Show available birth years. The latter show a small window like this: In case you don't feel that you need to read the whole post in the birth year thread. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | BirthYearCheck 4.5When I realized that I could update cast and crew through HTTPJolie, I thought that updating birth year directly from BirthYearCheck would be easy-peasy. Well, as it turned out, it was quite a lot more work than I had anticipated. But I got it done. You do need HTTPJolie to use this. So, when you select Update birth year you will be prompted for a new birth year. The combo box will contain the birth years from the birth year list (and 9999), but you can enter any year. You can't remove the birth year (limitation in the DVD Profiler API), but you can set it to 9999 and remove it manually later. If the same person occurs more than once in the cast, all occurrences will be updated. The same for crew. As always, do read the help file, especially the topic regarding this feature. You can, of course, use the program without HTTPJolie, but this feature will then be disabled. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar | | | Last edited: by GSyren |
