~2 decades ago I bought a declawed CueCat for $5, but I haven't used it in ages. I enter the 1-2 BDs I still buy per year per hand without a problem.
If I ever have the need for bulk-scanning again I'd use a smartphone-app that can save the scanned UPCs in a text list.

I've got a CueCat too but ended up quicker to just type them in since I know ten-key.

Yeah I've been owning one for over a decade now, makes the occasional mass buy or inventory much easier.

Video would have been even more efficient if I hadn't needed my left hand to hold the phone camera.

I have a barcode scanner which I purchase long ago, but I don't use it much since most of my buys are a few at a time.  It ends up being easier to just input the UPCs for a few titles manually. However, it's quite useful if you adding a large collection from scratch.

I pretty much discovered DVD Profiler just recently and wanted to get a barcode scanner to save so much time when doing future scans. Just did a rescan of my entire collection today since the CSV file didn't organize my collection correctly and it felt so much easier rather than just typing the numbers

It never occurred to me that I could scan DVD bar codes and use them with DVD Profiler!  I've already got a bar code scanner!  Unfortunately, it isn't working for me with DVD Profiler.  I think I know why but I want to see if someone here has a suggestion about it.

I collect comics as well as DVDs & I bought a bar code scanner at the same time that I bought Comicbase to manage my comics.  The bar code scanner has worked great for scanning comics in for years, so it certainly works, but it's not working when I try to scan DVD bar codes.  It doesn't seem to recognize that the DVD bar codes ARE bar codes.

I'm guessing that that's due to the way I set up this scanner a long time ago.  Programming the scanner involved using the scanner to scan various barcodes to set up its features.  I wasn't told to scan all of the bar codes so I only scanned the ones suggested.

One thing unusual about comic (& other magazine bar codes) is that the comic doesn't get a new bar code every month.  It adds an extra 4 characters or something like that to the end, to identify which instance of the comic or magazine this is.  I certainly scanned a barcode during setup that allowed the scanner to recognize the extra characters in these comic bar codes.

So, my question after all of this is whether I need to use a different bar code set to read DVD bar codes than I do comic bar codes?  Does anyone know if these sets of codes are mutually exclusive or if the scanner can hold more than 1 set of codes at a time?  I buy a LOT more comics these days that I do DVDs so I don't want to do anything to mess up the comic scanning.  If I can only use the scanner for 1 type of item then I'll stick with comics.

Thanks for any suggestions you might have!

Thanks,
GWGuen

Assuming you purchased the scanner from Comicbase they have a setup page for their scanners. Look in the appropriate users guide for UPC-A setup.

With the scanner there was a page with barcodes (language, azerty/querty....) that i needed to scan, at first it didn't work, then i scanned them all, and finally it worked (don't ask why or how i did it!  )
Good Luck
