One of the competitors (collectorz) has now released an android app for their movie collection software. It only allows viewing your collection (not editing) but it makes me long for a DVD Profiler Android App.

Personally, I would be very happy with merly viewing my collection on my android phone. At least I would have it with me 

Another longtime paid user who would happily pay for an Android app.

Samsung Galaxy S? I was just looking at that phone a couple of days ago, very nice and it would be my choice not only because it has the nicest screen I have seen but I have other Samsung equipment that it could work with...

With this much progress why don't you approach Invelos with an offer to develope the Android version for them, or get their permission to use the XML data base you need?

I echo this.. how many times have you laid on the sofa and said "let's watch a DVD" and then can't be bothered to get up and wade through endless discs. I want to browse my collection on my phone.

Seeing as Android is definitely the up and coming mobile platform, Invelos needs to seriously look at developing an app for it. WinMo is practically the dinasour.

I wouldn't say how much progress there is until you see the screenshots   

They ARE forthcoming.. I decided to change the layout a little as it didn't work at all well when you used it on larger screened Droid phones .. or rotated the screen to landscape for that matter 

as for approaching Invelos .. that's not going to be an option. 1. I work as a professional developer. I'm under contractual intellectual agreements re anything I develop. 2. I am busy, I can't be the go to guy with every support query out there.  Android development isn't as straight forward as iPhone development. You have a myriad of different devices, all with "slightly" different flavours of Android. I'd want to ensure that it works on as many devices as possible without falling over.

I do intend polishing it up and releasing it into the wild at some point. and rest assured, it's not going to be a paid for app (am sure that will please many of you) I can't make money while I'm under this contract, and I can't make money off someone else's codebase (Invelos) 

But obviously, this isn't going to happen soon. I use it myself, it works (sort of) and It's very useful when I'm out and about buying DVD's in sales or sitting on the sofa and wanting to browse my collection.  but it's not a finished product .. not by a long chalk.

It's "Nice" in that it's useful.. it's not "Nice" in the fact it's not polished.. the the UI could do with a tidy up (it's not easy squeezing loads of info into a small screen.. even with multiple tabs.. especially when you don't use a stylus but big fat fingers.. like mine  )

I'm currently removing access from the web server.. that was me playing around. it didn't make sense when you can just copy files to your SD card directly. Just because google gives you new toys to play with it doesn't mean I need to use them all in every application 

I am EXCEEDINGLY busy at work, but I grab the occasional hour at home when the wife isn't wanting me .. you will be the first to know when there's a demo version available and , of course, you as potential users.. feedback and/or requests will be more than welcome.. as long as I don't get hassled

I have used DVD Profiler for many many years. I have a lot of time invested in it. I started with it running on my PDA and moved to a Windows mobile phone BECAUSE it ran on Windows Mobile.  I am now on an Android phone and my only regret is not having my DVD collection on it.  The only thing that has saved me is being able to pull up my collection using the phone's browser.  So now I think the thing I miss the most is not having the upcoming title releases showing up as they did on my old phone.

So count me in. I would definitely pay for an Android version.  It is a must have!
