I made the jump last weekend.
Had the 65" LG on sale (sell out in prep for the new models). Looks good, and as I have an upscaling BD player, was worth it.
Also now like the fact that Youtube has true 4k content now.

I am looking at a Go Pro Black, which records 4k. Anyone have one, and what are they like?

I wait for unupscaling native player, media type and content.

4k at 15fps ...
I personally would wait for at least 30 or 60 fps, depends on your area for operations

I'm going to replace my 55" Samsung next month, or at least when the 2015 models become available. Looks like both LG and Sony are experiencing delays in rolling out their new sets.

As I had issues with a Samsung smartphone not performing too well. A Samsung Blu-Ray intermittently sending no output to the TV, and the 55" tv requiring a major repair after 1 year of service, I plan to switch manufacturer.

The Sony X85C series seems nice. Besides the upgrade to 4K, I also want a bigger screen size. 75" seems appropriate. I think the larger screen size will also provide a better 3D experience.

LG also appears to have some great models, but I can only find 1 65" model on the European website.

?! How? Technology will be licensed in the spring or summer of 2015, and players have an expected release date of Christmas 2015.

According to Amazon, there are plenty of 4k TVs and players on the market right now...or am I missing something?

But they might not be fully compatible with the final 4k UHD BD or other specs.  Early HD sets had the same limitations as they came out before the specs (i.e. HDMI, etc.) were finalized.

I'm waiting until I can get a 55" set that's under $2000 and supports 3D and HDR.

I started my research for the next TV earlier this year (currently on hold, as I was busy with other things); due to be purchased later this year.

The consensus seemed to be, that unless you are sitting really close to your TV, up to 55" would not benefit from 4K....?

My personal plan is to try to get a 55" OLED (I think LG makes these), if they still make this "small size". In the shops here I was told, that OLED is expensive, so people who want OLED have money and are therefore rather in search of larger screen sizes, 65" and up...

Just tested the Astra Ultra HD Demo channel.

Intel HD Graphics 4600.

LAV Filters 0.65 (Intel Quick Sync enabled).

Result: CPU utilization i5-4570@3.2GHz > 90%.

Conclusion: Unusable.

That one is 4K though... I am not against 4K, but as I only need a 55" TV 1080p is enough for me...

I wonder what the pricing will be. But I am also a little afraid to look it up (looked it up, it IS rather high... )

However, there is also a 1080p model:
http://www.lg.com/sg/tvs/lg-55EC930T
The price tag seems to be about 50% of the 4K model, which is actually somewhere in the range what I might be willing to spend...

I took the plunge yesterday and orderd the Sony KD-75X8505C. I was told the expected delivery date is mid-June. So far, none of the new Sony models are available in Belgium

I bought an LG Electronics 55LA9700 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD 240Hz 3D Smart Nano LED TV with Sliding Sound Bar, in October of last year. The clarity of the picture is stunning.

Now, I need to get a 4k Blue ray player since they have finally starting releasing Blu ray in Ultra HD.

The holy grail would be 4k OLED. But I'd have to rob Fort Knox to afford it!

THIS ONE would do the trick!
