I am in the midst of copying all the profile links into My Links in the program. Doing this I am noticing an awful lot of  dead links. A terribly huge amount.

There needs to be an easier way to clean up the profile links! I am seeing...

- Youtube Links that the trailer was removed by Youtube or set to private
- Page addresses changed... so get either a 404 error or redirected to index page
- Official Sites no longer there... redirected to Studio index page
- Sites for US Region 1 releases of US films in other languages... these should be using links for that release not for the  title putting their language site on every release of that title. (personal pet peeve of mine)

After going through links for hundreds of profiles... I see just how huge of a problem this really is.

So please Ken... give us a way to actually clean up the profile links.... as voting them down has done absolutely nothing and is just making it very difficult for those of us that are moving the links into My Links.

I agree Pete, and there are a lot of dead websites like Allrovi.com, DVDTown.com/Moviemet.com, etc..

Yahoo Movies (older links) are also all dead now.

It would be good to be able to just delete any links that exist for completely dead sites.

Voting them down does two things: It lowers the placement in the list, so (for instance) clicking the trailer button in the program will use a different (correct) link.  Secondly, it flags the link for review.  We process these by checking each and removing/recategorizing the incorrect ones.  Many thousands of bad links have been removed this way.

If there are other completely dead sites, you can post here and I can review them en masse.

That may be so Ken... but take it from me... been going through them all to add to my links... you haven't even scratched the surface.

Katatonia just gave 3 sites that are completely gone.

Those have all been removed.  I was asking for other completely dead sites.

I will post here if I find more... most I see just delete the page off there site and get a 404 error or redirected to the index page.

BTW... I am correct about this one right?...

The other choices are Not a Trailer, Broken Link, and Embedding Disabled.  Users don't seem to have a problem picking the correct option.

A trailer for a US film in the the German language should be attached to the German release only... not to the title that adds it to all releases of the title.... including the US R1 release. Which only makes sense... why would I want to see the trailer to one of our films in German? I don't know German. I don't want or need to see the trailer in German.

The same goes for any site... Like seeing English and German Wikipedia sites both attached to a US film.... we have no use what so ever for the German Wikipedia site. It should only be attached to the German release of the film.

As now has also been verified by Ken!

This is on the link submission page:

For links which match the locality of the original content, submit via Title/Production Year. For others, submit via "This Profile Only"

we have no use...

You don't know me, so please don't speak for me...

You may have no use for these links, other's might have...

I would be pretty disappointed if all foreign links would be removed from my profiles.

Well, OK - how do I do this when submitting via DVD Profiler itself?
