And of course right after making 2.8.0 available, I notice a couple of things.

In the rush to fix the auto backup feature I forgot to fix the previously reported CreditSubType problem.

The express move was sort of crippled, because if the selected item was checked, it was itself considered the last checked item, so was in fact move back one step. That was perhaps taking the request a little too literally.

Both these oversights have been rectified in 2.8.1.

CastCrewCheck has been updated to version 2.9. It has two new features:

The File menu now includes "Save Session" and "Load Session". This means that if you need to close the program, but want to keep your work, you can use "Save Session", and when you want to continue you can use "Load Session". This will save all the data in the program, including any notes.

There are now two levels of opacity. One when the mouse pointer is over the program window and one when it is not. Or more exactly it works like this; when you move the mouse pointer over CastCrewCheck, the "over" opacity kicks in. If you move away the pointer without clicking anything in CastCrewCheck, you get the normal opacity again. If you do click, the "over" opacity stays on until CastCrewCheck loses keyboard focus (i.e. when you click some other program, like your media player).

The idea with the two opacity levels is twofold. First of all, having the window more transparent when one is not working with it makes it easier to see any credit that happens to show under CastCrewCheck's window. Secondly, by keeping the window less transparent until the keyboard focus changes helps if you use the keyboard to control your media player. You can more easily see which of the programs has the keyboard focus.

The zip file now also contains a pdf file with documentation.

New in 2.10:

Opacity for “non-over” can be set all the way down to 1%. This means that the window becomes invisible, until you move the mouse pointer over it. Best remember where the window is... ;-)

“Swap columns” has been added to the cast context menu. The reason for this is that end credits for cast can be either actor-role or role-actor. If it's the latter, you can now swap the columns so it looks the same in CastCrewEdit. This only applies to cast, though.

Edited entries change font color to dark red. This is so you can check later things like common name, birth year, etc.

New in 2.11:
- When an edit window opens, focus is set to the first text field.
- Edited entries get checked automatically (because why would you edit them if they didn't belong in the credits?)
- The main window has been made minimizeable.

So, now I'm starting to feel that CastCrewCheck does everything that I myself want from it. So if anyone has any further feature requests, speak now or forever hold your peace. OK, that last part isn't necessary, but it would be good to get any input soon, so I can consider CastCrewCheck finished.

A final (perhaps) tip about CastCrewCheck:

I usually don't do cast / crew in TV shows, but today I tackled a British mini series and I realized that something was missing in CastCrewCheck; the ability to duplicate entries.

If a character is missing in the listing for several episodes, you now only have to add it once, and then you can duplicate that entry into another episode. Same thing goes for crew members.

The new version is 2.12. And just so you won't have to go looking for the link to the download page - it's here.

And any day now I will make the help file up-to-date

Just noticed a bug: The "voice" attribute is lost when pasting the cast data into DVDProfiler.

New feature added in version 2.13:

When you add a group divider in the cast listing you may have to delete the individual roles in the group. If it is a large group, this can became rather tedious. To help with this there is now a new item in the context menu when you right click a group divider  - Clear Group Roles. Selecting this will clear all roles up to the group end or new group divider.

Just a short note to say that we're now at version 2.16.0

Added in this version:
- When starting CastCrewEdit from CastCrewCheck (see this thread) old data in the lists are cleared immediately, and a message shows "Waiting for data from CastCrewCheck".
- Also added a warning if data could not be copied to the clipboard because some other application was keeping the clipboard open (which it shouldn't). In previous version this would cause an ugly exception. Fortunately not very common.

Fixed in this version:
- Copying unchecked data didn't work even if you had allowed it in settings. I guess nobody has needed it.

Download here.

And now the final version ... OK! I've been wrong when I have said that about other of my programs, so why should I think that it will hold true now?

Anyway, here is CastCrewCheck 2.17.0

I have added assisted name parsing when new cast or crew members are added manually. What does that mean? Well, you'll just have to give it a go to find out! Not really an earth-shattering breakthrough, just making it a tine, tiny bit easier to add new cast and crew.

If you don't like it, it can be turned off in Settings.

Oh, I have added a proper help file, too.
