As such, it doesn't seem these birth years are needed/valid. |

I found him twice on CLT under "Mark Strong" on page 37 within the french title of City Lights (1931): Les lumières de la ville (City Lights) 1931 3-700224-310851 Les Lumières de la ville: Collection Charles Chaplin (City lights) 1931 3-700224-302214 Otherwise i wouldn't have posted them ... | | | Last edited: by LKanne |

There is no credit for a Mark Strong in 'City Lights'. He may appear (uncredited), but there's really not a single source for that outside IMDb. We don't even know what this alledged Mark Strong looks like, so even if I watched 'City Lights', I still couldn't recognise him. No, I don't think this is needed. |

No, I don't think this is needed. at this time it is the same as with the rules for common names. Content of the data for the CLT are approved profiles. That counts more than your opinion. | | | Last edited: by LKanne |

Those profiles need fixing, not Mark Strong's birth year. Unless there is very good documentation of who that Mark Strong was and that he's (definitely) in the film, he shouldn't be listed as an uncredited cast member. It would be quicker, easier, and more accurate to remove Mark Strong from those two French profiles. If there is some documentation of who he was and when he appeared in City Lights, then contribute it along with his name amongst the uncredited cast. I have three copies of City Lights in my collection and no actor called Mark Strong is in any of them. |

| Posted: | | | | That's the easy way out in my opinion.
For City Lights there's plenty of info. The movie is documented by the BFI and also by United Artists. It looks like the UA info is the main source, though the role names from IMDB are a bit different, the BFI info looks exactly the same.So I wouldn't vote against it if someone would contribute him for this movie as uncredited. I didn't check all the profiles, but if he's already listed as uncredited he doesn't show up in the CLT, but the BY would be valid for me.
The two profiles in the CLT are completely French. Maybe translated from IMDB, maybe an edition with extra credits. I don't know but just like above assumptions not facts.
I leave it up to Kluge if he adds it to the list of accepted birth years. |

| Posted: | | | | Many years ago, in 2008, the birth year for American actress Jessica James (1929) was documented here, needed to distinguish her from the British actress with the same name. But back then, we couldn't find a birth year for that British actress. Since then, however, the birth year for the British actress has surfaced:
British actress Jessica James (1917), 'Keeping up Appearances', 'Love Soup',... - https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1512164/ - https://cinemorgue.fandom.com/wiki/Jessica_James - https://www.amazon.co.uk/prime-video/actor/Jessica-James/nm1512164/
American actress Jessica James (1929), 'Diner', 'Alien Nation', 'Illegally Yours',... - https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0416603/ - https://www.allmovie.com/artist/jessica-james-p35094 - https://www.blu-ray.com/Jessica-James-I/423874/ - https://www.nytimes.com/1990/05/09/obituaries/jessica-james-actress-60.html |

Not true Uncredited entries are not listed in CLT, but there are still profiles with Mark Strong (1884) for multiple titles in the database. But the birth years have already been added by Invelos so they also consider it valid birth years as well. Also Kluge didn't delete the birth years. |

| Posted: | | | | All entries for Mark Strong in the CLT are for one and the same actor. The alledged other Mark Strong doesn't have a single credited appearance in the entire DVD Profiler database, and there doesn't even seem to be a photo of him available anywhere. Any (uncredited) entries therefore can only be lifted verbatim from existing sources, likely IMDb, without having been personally verified by the contributor. As such, there is no need for this birth year. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | And again if it isn't in the CLT it doesn't mean that it is not in the database. You shouldn't find Samuel L. Jackson in the CLT for Iron Man either. Yet he had a role in it and there are dozens of profiles where he is listed. Nowadays the credits are a lot more extensive than at that time. Back in the time the cast mostly contained like 10 names and most of the time even without a rolename. But again there is plenty of documentation outside of IMDB. For the Chaplin film I recommend that you look up the United Artists documentation from the period 1920-1950, in which the other Mark Strong is mentioned. The BFI also extensively describes the Chaplin film. That's only for City Lights, but that also applies to other films. Here's a picture of Mark Strong (1884). Taken from a screenshot from a different movie than City Lights, which can also be found in the database. And knowing that, I can also confirm that I saw him visually in City Lights. Maybe not visible in CLT, but he can be found in the database and therefor the birth years are needed to distinguish both actors from each other. |
