Fake birth years (local-only) are your only option - I'm up to about 160 of them in my local database: each one desperately needed to keep the credits of different people with the same name from linking together. For the online database, however, there's still no answer. |

| Posted: | | | | There are 2 Harry Stradling's (father and son) in the database: Harry Strandling, Sr (1901) and Harry Strandling, Jr. (1925). They often are credited only as Harry Strandling.
Harry Stradling (1925) aka Harry Stradling, Jr. - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005888/ - http://www.filmreference.com/film/88/Harry-Stradling-Jr.html - http://www.cinematographers.nl/PaginasDoPh/stradling.jr.htm
A few films in the database: - The Big Bus - Bite the Bullet - Convoy - Little Big Man
I am adding Harry Stradling (1925) to the database in the film: Mitchell |

| Posted: | | | | I'm sorry, Kathy, but that's wrong. Sure, they're both in the database, but birth years would only be needed - and therefore only allowed - if the common name for both of them was "Harry Stradling", both without a suffix. And that isn't the case: the common name of the older one is "Harry Stradling", and the common name of the younger one is "Harry Stradling, Jr." As such, that's our means to distinguish them, and using birth years is not allowed here. Only if the common name of Jr. switches to "Harry Stradling" as well, then we can resort to birth years. This was talked about earlier here. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

Does this rule only apply to IMDb or for other sources as well? I had once a BY contribution with just one source, but the source was a Email of the specific person, so I think it was a special case. Often it is easy to find a second source once you know the BY. Do a Google search with name and BY. But it also doesn't help always. |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting ninehours: Quote: Does this rule only apply to IMDb or for other sources as well? Never has one particular external source been singled out like this, no. IMDb may have been named as an well-known example, but from everything that Ken and Gerri have said, I do not believe that there are special requirements that apply to one source but not the next one. Having said that, it's also interesting to note that in reality, in pretty much EVERY case where a birth year is needed but there was only one source for the BY, including cases where that one source was IMDb, the birth year was still accepted into the database. As it should, of course: if there is a legitimate need for the birth year, and we've actually found one, then why on earth would we ignore it and use a fake birth year instead? Of course, the more sources the merrier, but the fact of the matter is that apart from a handful of "big names", there just aren't real many places to find birth years for, say, a random make-up artist, sound editor or visual effects supervisor - generally speaking, we're lucky if we can even find one source. |

Sorry Tim, I mustn't have come across right. I'm aware that he's in the database but who actually is he? I'm just looking for clarification that the 1966 one is correct. Right? The upload from the headshots thread for the Jason Flemyng without a BY has a picture of the 1966 Jason Flemyng and I'm just trying to stop people from getting confused if they have to set up a UPC/EAN title from scratch in the future and use the wrong one in the cast section. | | | Steve

| Posted: | | | | Yeah, I'm not too sure what you mean either. As far as I know there is only one Jason Flemyng in the database (the 1966 one) which means we don't need a birth year for him. If you have 2 Jasons in your database I would check because most likely you simply need to merge those 2 people together. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

Senator Paul Simon: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Simon_(politician) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0800331/ http://bioguide.congress.gov/scripts/biodisplay.pl?index=s000423. | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! | | | Last edited: by huskersports |

You just need to submit this to one of your profiles with your complete documentation and Invelos will check and approve (or decline) it |
